The Zen of Chip Cleaning (4 Viewers)

I managed to clean very well some 5s reds and 25s greens but white chips still a bit dirt. There is any tip for those?
I used warm water, dishdish cleaner liquid and a bit of oven grease removal and a toothbrush.

I'm clean but thirsty.
Won't you rub some oil on me?
Not too much... then flip.

Who is luckier?
The chippies or the chipper?
Both can feel the love.

After a long night
Grease and grime everywhere
Give me a bath please

You weren’t that dirty
But you still get the scrubbie
Shine on my chippies

I recently cleaned up this rack that I accumulated chip by chip and cleaned in batches of 5-15.

Mixed condition stamp wise but lots dirt came out of these. Always conscious of the fragile stamp.

There is a zen about accumulating and cleaning even if they go to a new home. I have learnt a lot about maintenance in the hobby and will need to tackle the art of wrapped chips next.

Agree on the Zen. Proper cleaning and oiling not only brings them back to their full glory, which is satisfying, but it gives the opportunity to view all of the minute differences in every chip in the set. Have noticed many cool things I might not have otherwise seen.

How to measure time?
One chip. Tick. The next chip. Tock.
Chips teach us patience.
It’s funny I was sitting at home a couple days ago labelling the last of my big tourney set and thinking “damn this is a niche thing to be doing” only to read this post today.

I did 900 chips worth of over labels and the things you have down pat by the last rack (especially with IHC 43mm chip) you wish you had down at the start is maddening and yet all part of the custom label experience.

Yeah I get this too, picking up all the detail, slight errors or defects. It’s weirdly fascinating lol
