We’ll start with an atypical Islay. Unpeated sherry bomb with the perfect touch of coastal salinity. Fantastic pour!

Heavy pour to kill a bottle that’s been at low volume a bit too long. This is v solid. So much cherry and vanilla. Almost wish the swallow was a bit softer on this and the finish is so drying. There’s just something slightly unrefined about the experience

STORAGE QUESTION. Moving in Aug and at the new place I’m gonna have at lot more space for bottles so gonna be able to sort them and categorize better rather than cramming them like Tetris right now.

As a fun day dream I’ve been mulling over the merits of sort by distiller (by distillery and then sections by craft, ndp, etc. All the MGP in one place) vs by distillate.

The pro of sorting by distillate is that that’s a hard piece if info to precisely remember and many bottles (frustratingly) don’t have all the stats.

But like, am I going to spread four new riff bottles, five or whatever Frey ranch bottles all across different sections? That feels a little goofy.

Any ideas? What do y’all do?

I’m also gonna have a sideboard where I can have some easy to access glasses and a couple “bottles of the moment” but everything else is gonna be in main den/hang out room so the question here isn’t about short term vs long term storage

Definitely am pro sorting by distiller. I split / combine some shelves to accommodate multiple per shelf. I have some shelves that highlight some of my favorite / most prized bottles and I let those span across everything.

I leave organization to my spreadsheets, bottles go wherever I can fit them.

Same here.

Sometimes I kinda organize part of the bottles but I have so many and space is in such a premium, that I group them based on size to fit as tightly as I can, lol!

If I show up single one of those days, that's the reason my wife left me. Who am I kidding, 'one' of the reasons...

Storage space 1 - drink em til they're gone, do not replace
Storage space 2 - drink em, keep em in stock
Storage space 3 - special, drink em, enjoy, you ain't seeing them ever again
Storage space 4 - bunker
