I know there have been several glassware discussions before but I’m looking for recs on large quantity cost efficient for tastings. 8 glencairns just isn’t cutting it once we start doing flights.

These are right now the top contender. Looking to get probably 48 so not looking to go above $5/glass unless there’s a very compelling option.

Can't imagine you'd find a better option than that. In the past I've used small clear plastic glasses for whiskey samplings, more because I was lazy and didn't want to wash 40 glasses the next day

I have a box of those on my bourbon cart as well. My players usually just sample with full pours anyway.

I had this problem last year. Ended up forsaking buying a bunch of glencairns and ordered large quantities of glasses from Amazon. Like brandy snifters. This was for a blind tasting I hosted where we had 18 attendees but we had 5 whiskies to pour at once. So I needed almost 100 glasses. I think it ended up being around $2.50 a glass and they shipped fast.

Brief pause on the Irish to pop a new bottle:

Oban 15 Year Port Cask Finish

Nose: subtle but delightful - sea salt up front, followed by vanilla, musty oak barrels and ripe black cherry skins.

Palate: wow. Incredibly layered. You have all the base Oban profile notes - subdued peat, orange peel & honey up front, followed immediately by rich french vanilla ice cream and dark red fruit - a cross between raspberry and black cherry. As it sits, the peaty notes return and intensify, there's a spicy peppery note that balances the dram wonderfully.

Finish: medium in length and intensity. White pepper, sweet oak, peaty sea salt and the warm dark fruit port cask influence lingers. I just wish it were a tad more intense.

Will revisit in a few weeks to confirm but at first crack this is incredible and worth every penny. 100% my jam.

Redbreast Moscatel Wine Cask

Nose: orange peel, red fruit, oak, vanilla and very subtle baking spices

Palate: mostly follows the nose, cirtrus and fruits complement a warm vanilla base with background baking spices. Well balanced and polished.

Finish: medium length, vanilla/shortbread, oak and pot still spices.

8.6/10

It's very good, refined and balanced, on point with the traditional redbreast profile. A buy if you like the brand. But nothing over the top or crazy special, I'd much prefer either of their recent American oak cask finished annual offerings.

This years is cheaper, at least in MA. Just above $100.

I much preferred last year’s but I need to give the new one more than just a neck pour try. The port finish is very strong and it’s overly sweet for me. But seems like @Irish really liked. YMMV

This year's batch is like $10-$20 less, I got mine for $130, and last years bottle I got for $145 I think. They are both excellent and complex but very different. Last year was a raisin bomb, this is more vanilla and dark cherries. I personally like this one much better, I was in the fence last year about getting a backup at the price (but ultimately did), I will probably be grabbing 2 more of these.
