i also do not get the anger and frustration... i mean it took them a YEAR just to move everything across the country these things take TIME, and the way everyone is getting so mad here i can see WHY mike doesn't even want to GIVE updates because everyone gets so mad at him.. that he is not OPERATING now Now NOW....

i personally think everyone should just BE THANKFUL that the previous owners didn't just shut the whole place down, auction everything off and CPC disappeared forever... but that's me i don't know *shrugs* i was just super excited because a saw a post saying they were planning 5 new colors and 2 new edge spots...

and then i make a post and start up all of THIS rats nest...
I agree with @LionPaladin88 I don't know why a lot of people are so angry. When I ordered custom CPC chips in December of 2019 I shelled out a lot of money and then Covid hit and I didn't get my chips until late in 2021. I wasn't angry at David or demand any refunds. I knew they were operating at half the number of employees due to Covid and I just accepted the fact that my chips would eventually get to me and there was no use in complaining or asking for a refund as I wanted my set. For this issue they'll get the factory running eventually. I believe since some Employees from the CPC factory in Maine moved to Washington once they start producing chips it might be smoother than a lot of people think. Would you like Mike to half ass getting the factory up and produce crappy chips? Or would it be better to get the factory set up correctly and get chips that everyone is happy with? I believe eventually the chips will get to everyone. I get it he made some crappy business decisions affecting everything, but nothing we can do until he gets up and running. I have an order for HHR addons so I have a stake in this also.

What this thread is making me realize is that:

1) PCF probably makes up a much smaller percentage of CPC's customer base than we all previously thought, and

2) Spragg was a heckuva lot better at individual customer service than many of us gave him credit for. He may have been curt and to the point, but he always responded promptly.

Oh I annoyed him a lot. I would talk about mah feelings

I agree with @LionPaladin88 I don't know why a lot of people are so angry.

I'm going to address this and try to see the viewpoints from both sides. My responses are not directed specifically at you @Nuhockey , but you make a lot of good points. I just want to make counter points, and I hope they are as good as yours.

First, Why are people so angry?
Because they were promised something by a vendor. They paid money for services/products to be delivered by a specific time, and months later still have yet to be rendered.

I think all the anger comes down to that.

When I ordered custom CPC chips in December of 2019 I shelled out a lot of money and then Covid hit and I didn't get my chips until late in 2021.

I think this situation is a bit different than an existing facility shutting down for COVID. I'll explain in a bit.

I wasn't angry at David or demand any refunds.

People here are not angry at David either. In fact I think everyone in this thread has sung David's praises.

I knew they were operating at half the number of employees due to Covid and I just accepted the fact that my chips would eventually get to me

But here's the difference. CPC is no longer managed by David. This is not the same facility. There are a lot of new employees. The manufacturing equipment that had been running for years have now been moved and had to travel a great distance on bumpy roads, being jostled by pot holes and then placed into position. David has always mentioned that the equipment tolerances are right. So the customers complaining hope that the equipment can produce the same quality product.

and there was no use in complaining or asking for a refund as I wanted my set.
A lot of the people who have open orders still want their set too. @Pippa has been the only one vocal about his request for a refund. And another forum member even asked, hey could I buy your set instead? (Or something to that affect.)
There may be other people who requested refunds, but Pippa has decided to make his refund process public.

For this issue they'll get the factory running eventually.

A lot of the customers with open orders certainly hope so.

I believe since some Employees from the CPC factory in Maine moved to Washington once they start producing chips it might be smoother than a lot of people think.

That would be great if that were the case. And everyone hopes so. But at this point it time, there's no way to tell. Mike said that they are still waiting on the new facility to be completed (something about plumbing issues). Having veteran employees doesn't matter if the facility can even begin production.

Would you like Mike to half ass getting the factory up and produce crappy chips?

Nobody on this forum wants crappy chips. The world is already full of crappy chips.

Or would it be better to get the factory set up correctly and get chips that everyone is happy with?

This is exactly what everyone wants. And what everyone was promised.
Please try to remember the promise that most people bought in to (with money).

David said CPC is shutting down. If you get in your order by X date, we will manufacture your order for you.
Many people who were already customers thought this would be the last chance, possibly forever, that they would be able to add on to their set.
Or to get a new set that they were thinking about.
Or for some people who have never had a custom set and were sitting on the fence about the cost and the "normal" delays involved, finally put in an order too.

At that point in time, there was no new owner, no new facility.
They put in an order expecting to receive their chips made in the same facility, managed by the same owner.

Now there is a new owner. There is a new facility, and most likely over half the employees (the artisans who make these chips) are new to the craft.

After the new owner was announced, the promise was made that existing orders (the orders placed right after David announced that CPC would shut down) would be made in the existing facility.

And things continued that way... for a while.

Then the new owner (Mike) made the decision to stop production and move, despite the existing orders be promised (by David) to be made at the existing facility with the original employees.
This broken promise is where a lot of anger comes from.

Mike said that the move would take X months to complete. After the quoted X number of months elapsed, we got no word on what was happening. Then we got a few "behind the scenes" photos of some of the equipment in the new facility (which was pretty awesome to see). And then again another promise was made that things would be going in 30 days (one month).

Three months later there was no word from the new owner.

Let's take a breath here for a recap.
People placed orders and paid money for chips that were promised to be made in the original facility, under the direction of David, with the original employees.

Now we have a new owner, and a new facility, and a lot of new employees, and a promise of results by X date, which has passed.

The next issue here, and what everyone has been talking about for the last week, is that the new owner has not delivered on his promises, and has not provided any recent status updates.

I believe eventually the chips will get to everyone.

I get it. And I think a lot of the people here are with you on this belief.

I get it he made some crappy business decisions affecting everything,

Yes there were some bad decisions. But the one thing that has been consistently said in this thread is "keep us updated."

(This is my opinion) I think the biggest "crappy business decision" made is the lack of updates and keeping your customers aware of what's going on if things are not going the way they should be.
Just about everyone has said, just let us know what's going on, even if it's bad news, and we'll be patient.

Part of every business is dealing with your customers.
It's something that David was good at, something that Mike needs to improve on.

but nothing we can do until he gets up and running.

The customers that placed orders under one promise but are getting another can complain and share their worries together in an online forum.

I have an order for HHR addons so I have a stake in this also.

I am one of those people who never pulled the trigger on a custom set. It was expensive, and the lead times are several times what Gear labels are.

When David announced that this was your last chance to get CPC. It moved me.

If David still didn't have a hand in all of this, one could wonder if this wasn't the biggest bamboozle of all the on this forum.

But right now, all we have, is faith.

I'm not trying to complain. I'm not saying who's right or wrong, I'm just trying to answer the question "why u mad?"

Ditto. And just to clarify, I’m not angry but just nervous about orders. I could’ve cancelled my order and asked for a refund when we found out about manufacturing location switch but didn’t. I’m fine waiting until they can be made in best manner possible but admittedly scared of a business failure. Businesses are fragile no matter how many good intentions are behind them.

AMEN!!!!!

Btw
No reimbursement yet…..
How long will take for just click PayPal and send me the money?
Months?????

Well said. I'm wishing the best for all that are sticking it out (I'm pursuing a refund myself), but the other side of the coin here is that the faith in the product being delivered at the previous quality is blind faith. It's certainly not what any of us signed up for, as you expressed.

I can only add that transparency would be helpful, but is impossible so long as the manufacturing process remains a trade secret.

The justification for making existing orders at the new factory, instead of the existing factory, was primarily down to repairs needed to keep the old factory running (if I'm remembering correctly). This would mean downtime plus $10k+ (more?) investment into repairs into a factory that will then be abandoned within months... instead of remaining useful for years. Like putting a new roof on a house you're going to tear down. Not the original plan, and you could burn all your money getting the orders out as promised, and then simply close the business forever.

Regarding plumbing requirements and difficult landlords, transparency would also help show what Mike's up against. "I just want a steam pipe from here to there, otherwise the workaround will be $X, and while the landlord has been good he's stonewalling me on this..." perhaps insurance requirements from the landlord's policy prevents it unexpectedly? God have mercy on those building new physical things in today's regulatory environment.

Some things can genuinely be out of a business owner's control. Sometimes they are unexpected problems that could be expedited for a cool $100k. Not a problem if you've got a $10m line of credit from the bank. Very big problem when you're a small biz and have already taken a second mortgage and and and...

Godspeed Mike & the team, may good luck find you in unexpected places as you work to get CPC up and running. A few bad breaks can be disastrous, while a few good ones can right the ship. Sounds like poker!

To be fair, we were all offered the possibility to cancel orders that wouldn't make it.

another important clarification, thanks.

just another fine PCF mess i am glad to be watching from the outside and not participating in!

Know how you can only discuss politics in the politics forum? So you never have to stumble across that junk accidentally? Can we get a special forum for cut cards?
Speaking about the devil
Never received my cut cards
He created the shipping trucking number on March 1 but no ship yet 😆😆😆😆😆

It seems to me the universe is clearly trying to tell you to stop trying to buy shit. :wtf:
I think I'm the one that got Pippa (Paolo) down the rabbit hole. I sold him his first non dice chip set as I sold him a China Clay Pharoah set in 2020 to get him down this hole. His tastes only got more expensive since then LOL.
