Controversial Chip & Poker Opinions (69 Viewers)

I have been to some tournaments when in the first few hands there are multiple All-In bets looking for a quick double-up+ when they can just rebuy if it goes wrong. It's something I don't particularly care for. Is there a term for that kind of action? I'll use the search function....;)

The term is: “how tournaments are played today by people not playing recreationally”

I think it’s called cash players playing tournaments.

It doesn’t matter if you win five buyins when blinds are 50/100 if you suck at tournaments. All that gets you is coasting to first break maybe.

This was a page or 2 back, but I don’t think the drama in the cut card buy is about the cards themselves or their value, it’s about the fact that the OP blatantly lied about the process not once, not twice, but dozens of times over the course of the year. He continually strung people on and, when called out and he finally admitted to the lies, it didn’t stop him from doing it again, and again, and again. So I guess my controversial opinion is that even if someone is a beloved forum member they shouldn’t be excused from all wrongdoing. Or my controversial opinion is you should be true to your word? Or maybe, even if a firm date isn’t set, people’s orders could be delivered to them in a reasonable timeframe? Didn’t think they would be controversial opinions but they seem to be.

I have always wanted to run a $.75/$1.50 beginner limit table where everyone buys in for $50 and you pick a color and get 2 racks of quarters

I have always planned to make a $5 and $20 plaque and call the set “Washington Round Up” with a lasso around a quarter.

Sadly instead I mostly just hogged up most of the quarters and they are yet to have any use. Nobody wants to play low stakes limit… even $1/$2 can be boring. Seemed like an awesome idea at the time and still hopeful to make it happen, maybe for a family game since I have what $7 or $8k tied up in quarters! lol
I would play this game! At last year's DiD I ran a $1/$2 limit table with my workhorse chips being 50c and the value chips breing $10. Buy-in was $50 for one rack. We kept a full table for 5-6 hours.

My limit chips are non-denominated, so they can be anything.

Controversial: I tilt HARD at all of itilthard's For Sale posts  :ROFLMAO: :wtf:
That's a very nice way to phrase your distaste. Not all of us are blessed with such a filter. I recently saw one very rude person call him a c*nt. I heard they don't even regret saying it at all. Despicable behavior.

Can someone ask chat gtp how many racks of $5s you should have in a poker game.

Sure, I’ll play the bot...

I have five racks of $5s for my 2/5 game.
This is the minimum number you should have for one table.

MOAR chips on the table = MOAR fun

(All five racks of $5s got into play at my game this week. Also all three racks of $25s, not to mention several barrels of $1s and $2s for change/tipping, and two barrels of hundos.)

Someone PMd me and asked how I get my $5s into play.

Generally at my standard $1-$2 or $1-$2-$5 game initial buy in I flood the table with $1s and $5s. Max buy in is usually $500 and buy ins range from $200-$500. Everyone gets a barrel of $1s and the rest in $5s. New players of the game are treated the same, and rebuys I introduce $25s and $100s.

I don't know how I missed this post, but it makes me sad. Knowing that they aren't getting into play sent me directly to my bank information so I could make an insane offer on the set.

My bank account doesn't have enough "funny money" to float the offer, hence my sadness.

Just know I was veeeery tempted to try "Windwalkering" them out of your hands.

FWIW, before each game I set up starter racks of $400 from which to build buy-ins, broken down as:

5 -- $1s = $5
10 -- $2s = $20
40 -- $5s = $200
3 -- $25s = $75

No one buys in for less than $400. I add 4 x $25 per extra hundred after that, up to $800 total, then use black hundos for anything larger, up to the max $1K.

Dealer rack gets a mix of all denoms including a few $500 chips. Probably it would be easier just to give the dealer all the $1s and $2s, and not include these in starting stacks, but I find that it encourages tipping when people have the chips already in their stack rather than needing change.

After the initial buyins, I mostly dispense just $25s and $100s, but will sometimes add in any leftover $5s.

Hey, I played at that table and was one of the more fun tables I played at during that meetup!:tup:

So I've always heard good things about NexGens as a cheaper chip. I finally got my hands on some samples. I have to say, they are absolutely disgusting. Most sluggos I've handled are better than those cheap plastic waifers.

Posting pictures using imgur or other image hosting websites rather than direct uploads to pcf is not a great idea. Yes, the PCF image hosting seems to have some issues with loosing a bit of saturation (especially from iPhone pictures?).

However it is very frustrating and sad to see old photos gone forever because the host-website decided to remove old photos from old accounts.

Like this example from the main PCA thread.

Sure, there are plenty of photos of those specific chip around and so its less of an issue, but it is a bit annoying that the nain pron-threads for certain oldie but goodie chip sets and releases have uneditable OPs with a bunch of broken image links.

Luckily there are not SO many examples of this happening extensively yet. However seeing that it seems to be the new norm for many members to upload pics via imgur rather than directly to PCF, I'm a bit scared of what it will look like in a couple of years.

I also found exporting the image as a png also protects colors when uploading here. Not sure if others have experimented with other file types/etc.

I prefer using Imgur links for my For Sale ads, especially for higher end stuff. The ability to link to hi-res photos makes a huge difference in terms of prospective buyers being able to judge chip condition for themselves.

This happened with a lot of my photos so I stopped.

For a cash set agree 100%. For tournaments, keep all chips the same size or have them all completely different from each other.
Hey... against the rules of this thread to come with logical suggestions.
