Really disliked Max his first few years. Immature and constantly dive bombing corners plus his first championship that was essentially handed to him by the stewards (not his fault they did though). He’s grown a lot since and I like him now but glad we have a non-Max/Lewis champion this year.
There was a minority who didn’t like it but I loved seeing Norris geek out and show his full range of emotions around his championship. It’s a pinnacle that only a handful of people across any profession or sport will ever achieve and his reaction was in line with that while being humble and thankful to everyone who helped him achieve it.
Glad the stewards ruled the way they did too but as the commenters on F1TV said I thought the penalty on Tsunoda was a bit harsh.

I was glued to the screen until the first VSC when Ferrari, as usual, balls’d up the strategy and kept both cars out.

Not saying they're not blistering off the line but I've never seen the lights turn off that quick ever. Pretty sure everyone was caught off guard.

I’m not an expert and haven’t been following F1 super closely the last few seasons, but from what I understand the ERS deployment system seems like a big improvement over DRS.
At least with ERS the driver can choose when and how to deploy the extra power anywhere on the track, whereas DRS always felt a bit artificial to me since it only works in certain zones and only if you’re within a second. ERS seems to put more of the timing and strategy back in the driver’s hands.
Still a lot of systems management compared to older eras, but it feels like a step back toward more organic racing dynamics.
That said… I still think MotoGP probably wins the “pure racing” crown

Stats say it went from 45 to 120 overtakes.
But an overtake in 2026 does not feel the same like it used to be.
I prefer one like this over 100 like we had last weekend.
Or even a GP without overtake but keep you stick on the screen (Hello Imola 2005).
I used to be a hardcore F1 fan but since DRS has been introduced (around 2013 if I'm not wrong), I find it more and more boring.
I even started to enjoy NASCAR but then lost interest when the "segment races" has been introduced.

Agree 100%. That era was incredible from a spectator standpoint.
I get why the OEMs want to push technology that eventually finds its way into road cars, but it can’t come at the expense of driver engagement and the feel of the racing. Don’t even get me started on how large the F1 cars have become and their aero/downforce problem… haha
Even though I’m not the biggest fan of all the hybrid complexity, ERS at least seems like a big step up from DRS. Giving the driver control to deploy energy wherever they want feels a lot more natural than a predetermined zone where the flap opens and the pass is almost inevitable.
These days I find myself watching more motorcycle racing. MotoGP and King of the Baggers scratch that “pure racing” itch for me. But honestly I’ll watch just about any motorsport if it’s on.

Let’s see if there are more than zero overtakes in Monaco this year.
Sigh. This week's race is the first F1 race I haven't seen since 1967. Somehow, the US rights sellout to AppleTV just rankles too much to take. Pile that on top of welcoming Cadillac into F1, and 24 races are just too much to take.
