Has anyone on here played Mexican Train Dominoes? I played it for the first time at one my wife's friend house last Saturday. It was such a fun game there were 8 of us playing at first and then it went down to 6 before the game ended. Game lasted for a few hours and one of the best new non poker games I've played in a long time. The last new game I really enjoyed playing before that was Five Crowns. I am now going to get the Train Dominoes and introduce it to some of my friends.

Played it. Not a fan at all. You want a train game, check out Ticket to Ride and Tans America to dip your toes in.

A member of my D&D group recently introduced me to a game called 'Biscuits Dice'
This is the vendor page for the game: https://gluebunnygames.com/products/biscuits-a-dice-game

It's just a push-your-luck dice game with a handful of d6s, single d8, single d10, single d12. Anyone who plays board games or tabletop games can assemble their own set, I'm sure.
The 'biscuit' die is a larger d6. For my own set, I went rooting around in my jar o' random dice I once purchased at a flea market, and found a set of craps dice from a casino in Reno. Totally random and it amused me greatly.

We played it as a warmup before a real game and had tons of fun. Scales to any size of players at the table.

Give it a shot, I suspect your game group will enjoy it.

Here is a breakdown of the rules:

Much easier scoring system:

A max die roll = 0 (a biscuit).
Any other number = the number rolled.

Better than the subtract and add method or the straight add method.

Downside: players that want to know if they want to roll high or low, in which case the answer is "The highest number possible, but failing to do so, the lowest number possible. It's a push your luck game, but if you actually have limited telekinetic powers, it's a push your paranormal powers game."

Haha! Just roll the number that is most optimal for you, every time.

Trying to thin my collection out - if anyone's looking for one of these, let me know - I'd much rather deal with a PCF'er than a rando on eBay or BGG:
  • We The People (AH)
  • Shogun (Milton Bradley)
  • Dust
  • Battlestar Galactica (Base game)
  • Race for the Galaxy (plus multiple expansions - can look - forget which ones)
  • Star Wars Rebellion
  • Sealed copy of War of the Ring 2nd Ed
And, to the original intent of the thread - games from my collection you can pry out of my cold, dead hands:
  • Brass Birmingham
  • Puerto Rico Special Edition
  • Diplomacy
  • El Grande
  • Space Hulk (3d Ed)

My favorites from my collection...

- Lords of Vegas
- Cosmic Encounter
- Mission Red Planet
- Fury of Dracula
- Road to El Dorado
- Ready Set Bet
- Merchant of Venus
- Champions of Midgard
- Shadows Over Camelot
- Horrified
- Sheriff of Nottingham
- Escape from Atlantis

Very high hopes for Fate of the Fellowship.

Games I'm on the hunt for...

- Stockpile
- Black Fleet
- Fortress America
- Airlines Europe

My office is having a game night this week and I'm bringing Ready Set Bet. Such a fun game. Also bringing Flip 7, Just One, Vegas (dice game), and For Sale.

Not trying to taunt you, but I have Airlines Europe. And while it doesn't get a ton of play the days, it's a great game. Totally get why you are hunting it down.

I have a fun variant for Ready Set Bet.
- Each player gets 20 dice chips of a single color. This allows 12 players.
- Each player can bet on 4 spots per race. (Or 5 if using 2 boards).
- They can put as many of their chips on the bet spot that they want. Each represent a bet of 1.
- Losing bets must pay the losing cost, plus they have to pay it again for every 5 chips on the bet. 1 chip = 1 loss, 5 = 2 losses, 10 = 3 losses, etc. 5 losses are the max naturally.
- Pay out with your actual poker chips. I call them value chips vs betting chips.

This makes the game feel more like roulette, gives players more bet control, and of course allows 4 more players (the board gets crowded but that's half the fun).

I like to host RSB at parties as a dealer. Its fun to run like 16-20 races and the winner gets a gift card. Its all my friends' favorite casino style game. We play it way more than poker.

Ok. I broke. I bought Black Fleet. They are never going to reprint it and the price is only going to go up. Might as well nab it.

I have a black box of Glory to Rome I'll never part with because I know I'll never be able to get it again. Some great games just never get reprinted.

Ya. That's the sad part of the hobby. I'm hoping for a stockpile reprint, but honestly I can home manufacture that one if needed. Also I feel like Raccoon Tycoon is probably the better product.

Curious to see how your group plays some of the rules in Flip 7 LOL. We can't land on a definitive rule set/card resolution

There is clarification out there.

https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/292492/flip-7-faq-edge-cases

Most of the really weird scenarios are regarding flip 3s. You don't use revealed special cards right away during a flip 3. If player busts during a flip 3, they don't get to use any special cards revealed.

If you get a second chance while you have one, you have to give it to someone else if possible. If not possible, you discard it.

Those are the most common questions I see.

Love the game, interested to see how the Special Edition looks.

I think gaming companies have realized that a large number of aging gamers now have more expendable income and appreciate finer things. We've got the 30th edition of Robo Rally on its way right now.

Just got this yesterday. I swear they started printing it in 1897 it took so long. I can post unboxing pics if anyone interested, it’s got 3d buildings and boats and crates for goods.

Good ole PR. Been a while since I've played it. These days I play New Frontiers to get the same vibe.

Just got this a couple weeks ago. Hadn't played it since it originally came out years ago. And I was very quickly reminded how great this game is.

Nice! I went in on the PR game because it’s a good family game with a mix of strategies - AND it’s over in about two hours. No 4 hr setup for 16 hrs of dedicated gameplay.

The biggest problem we have with finding gamers is the time commitment followed by the need to be a rocket scientist to grasp the deeper strategies. This game does good in balancing the complexity with a shorter game play.

Here’s some basic pics. Didn’t punch it all out yet, later after it’s dark and can’t work outside. But it will see some play this holiday.

Yeah, 1.5-2 hours is for sure the sweet spot. I have a couple neighbors that I get together with weekly to play games once a week and those are the favorites.

The other game we've been playing a lot of lately this past year is Viticulture for that same reason. Complex enough to scratch the itch, but doesn't draw itself out for way too long.
