Tigers might be an edge case. If u see the samples theyd make you want to buy the tigers even more so shouldve just got it to begin with.

Unless you tell me some people bought samples and concluded "these r ugly" or "these dont live up to the hype".
You can easily tell how beautiful Tigers are from photos. That's not the reason to get samples first.

I own a couple racks for a mixed set that I have, and I've played with full sets of Tigers. It's only after handling them that I'm glad I didn't commit a much greater amount to acquiring a full set of them. Instead, I chose to invest my money in older, used, leaded real casino chips for my main cash set. The majority of which I paid less per chip than the typical cost of Tigers. I'm much happier with the leaded chips.

I personally think samples are cost prohibitive if you aren't in the US. For non-US chippers, it may be more worthwhile to see if you can meet up with someone in the same region instead.

I was able to shuffle stacks when playing in home games with Aussie chippers or via friendly texts, and even when overseas via the help of @LeLe @CDC @tmham + many others. We have a great community here who are all really happy to help, the vast majority of the time.

I understand the difficulty and expense of procuring samples from overseas. But meeting up with someone in your general part of the world is still advocating for getting samples rather than buying chips sight unseen.

So I've been stuck in my house for 2 weeks and got two more to go. So ... This will at least keep me busy for a day or two.

@Eriks mentioned he was moving towards the nah on samples, so I'm curious, is this old advice or still the smart thing to do? @legend672 said it too but I don't listen to him. He's weird.

I've always been a strong "buy samples" guy. We still argue about chip colors because a phone camera variations and mold feel on shuffling, so I'm kinda baffled anyone would disagree. But I'm also a fudd and aware of this.

I wanted samples of the Rancho Agave before I purchased, but alas they were not available. So I voted "No"
