Hello from the UK!

I’m part of a university poker society, and we’re looking to buy a new set of customs to accommodate several tables. We run games of £0.05/£0.05, £0.10/£0.25 and £1/£1, currently with a mix of different chip sets.

On a busy night we may have (9-handed) 3 tables of £0.05, 3 tables of £0.25, and 2 tables of £1 running, and the £1/1 usually plays quite deep.

I came up with the following breakdown, based on what I think an ideal 300 chip set for each table would be and then rounding out some of the amounts:

£.05 x 300
£.25 x 600
£1 x 750
£5 x 500
£25 x 250
£100 x 100
Total 2500 chips
Bank: £19,665

(The 300pc breakdown for each stake):

5NL set (3 tables)
£.05 x 100
£.25 x 100
£1 x 75
£5 x 25
Bank: £230

25NL set (3 tables)
£.25 x 100
£1 x 100
£5 x 75
£25 x 25
Bank: £1,125

100NL set (2 tables)
£1 x 100
£5 x 100
£25 x 75
£100 x 25
Bank: £4975

In practise it’s unlikely that we’d stick to these exact breakdowns per table, and I understand 300 chips isn’t too many for 9 players, but often there will be less than the full 8 tables running. We’re also used to playing on a less than perfect setup lol.

I wouldn’t be worried about bank for any of the smaller tables as long as we have plenty chips for the bigger games. 100 x £100 chips would be enough for the most degen of games :bigbucks:

If there’s anything that seems wrong with my thinking on this breakdown advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any replies!

PS. as a side note we’re interested in Tina’s for this set. Does anybody know roughly how much it would cost to buy such a set from the UK? Our budget all in is around £2000 GBP. Do let me know if we’re way off with this

531x £5
270x £25
54x £100

Total chips: 2,412 (2,475 if you round up to the nearest 25 for each denomination)
Total Bank for all tables: £15,660 (£17,988.75 after rounding up, big jump due to 21 extra £100s)

Tina's:
According to Justin's prices, the price would be $1,255 (for 2,500 chips with custom labels) plus shipping. I do not know if tariffs are included, and that does not include the reshipping to the UK. This is the link to the Alibaba site for the company that makes the chips. From what I understand, it might be cheaper to receive your chips this way. You can also try to find a UK group buy to cut down on costs; I know they have occurred in the past.

Hopefully this helps!

This is great information, thank you very much!
Seems like my original thoughts were pretty close ;)

Yeah, I think we’ll try and go direct to manufacturer for this set for ease and to try and get it a bit quicker.

If anyone has any more input on the size of the set and breakdown your views are highly appreciated :)

No input on order size but over the last few weeks/month some UK newcomers have also expressed an interest in Tina’s - you may be able to save a bit on shipping if you combine orders. You’ll end up paying a few hundred on it otherwise in case that’s an issue

FWIW I believe Justin can include your order in the group buy and have it direct air-shipped from China instead of being reshipped from the US. Dunno if there's value in going that way if you're bringing your own design, but it's an option.

Thanks for your replies. We’re in a bit of a unique situation as spending comes from our student union bank account and they can be sometimes tricky to work with moving money around, so I think joining a group buy could cause some issues. We also managed to somehow lose track of over half of our equipment over summer  :ROFLMAO:. So the sooner the better really.

The price per chip on justin’s group buy does look good. Do you know roughly what quantity is ordered to reach that? I assume if we joined a US group buy and paid for direct air shipping to the UK then the delivery cost wouldn’t be any cheaper than going by ourselves, but may be cheaper per unit overall.

*walking in* any spots open on the 1/1 table?

"Nope, but ones open on the .05/.05 table"

Welcome to my own personal hell.
