ORVW is the only pappy I would pay secondary for if I had to. If you could find one for 500-650 out the door and were compelled to buy one - I'd do it.

For Michter's 10 year bourbon, 250 is very fair vs secondary. Just pay attention to the single barrel code, some are better than others. I found 25A to be the best of the 25B, 25C I've had (I'd honestly pass on the 25C....). 24A is good too, but I prefer the profile of 25A better. 23A is legendary...and totally worth trying at some point. I have a 2016 michter's 10yr bourbon that's so different (in a good way) - it almost tastes like a rye!

Do you know if there is a similar ranking of Michters 10 yr Rye? It's a bucket list bottle for me that one day I will own. But would hate to get one only to find out I ended up with a "lesser" release.

Years ago when I first wanted to seriously explore whiskey I did a blind trade cigars:whiskey on a cigar forum where I shipped first to set the tone/price range. It was with a forum veteran and avid collector so I went pretty hard to impress him.

One of the samples he sent was Michters 10 rye. I can’t remember having knowingly/intentionally had any rye at that point. I chased the high of that sample again for quite a while before I really got into learning about whiskies and realized how awesome a bottle I had gotten to try.

Noah's Mill is a staple. Had gotten my hands on a beautiful bottle of Black Maple Hill, but I had no restraint and killed it and now am lamenting the fact that I can not buy more. Old West Whisky Rendezvous Rye is a nice one as well. I bought it for chip pictures but it turned out to be pretty tasty stuff.
Noah's Mill is my If-I-could-only-have-one-bourbon bourbon. But it's never on the shelves in WV. For a long time I could only find it in KY, but it's started showing up in Ohio, including a store just across the river.

By the way, if you visit the Willett Distillery, you can meet Noah the cat.

I love willet. But Noah’s Mills and Rowan’s creek I just couldn’t get into. I gave both bottles away. But anything from willet with a purple top is my jam

There is, but I'm not as versed - generally people don't discriminate on the letter codes as much with these. What I can call out is to avoid 2024 M10 ryes...they were not up to the same level as the previous years. I've tried the 23 and 21 and they were okay (my buddy says the 21 wasn't great, but not as bad as the 24). Here's his quote on the 22 and 23 "M10 RYE '23 IS GOOD. M10 RYE '22 is amazing."

I haven't had the 22 yet... but would trust this opinion. Hope it helps!

It's been quite a while since I've sipped any whiskey, let alone the sherry finished rye I'm sipping right now. That's been an eternity.

Anyway, I recall that it was good. But, I think it's even better than I remember. My palate LOVES this stuff. Hoping to score some of this year's batch of New Riff. I've never had any of their sherry finished product.

Cheers guys.
