One of my top wants for a couple years. One of my fav ever fonts/type face on a custom.

Realtors: We’re going to have a team out on Friday to grab pictures for the listing.

Barrie: Got it, I’ll go get the house ready, pickup, and call the vendor people.

*spends the next two hours filling all the empty spots in chip displays and straightening cases*

It’s been a journey that’s spanned continents and years.

It was fun for sure, but for the past while has been expensive and not that rewarding.

I believe the move and ensuing basement project (alongside meetup) will bring along the long sought retirement of sorts.

Still enjoy the fun of seeing new customs be released and nabbing one, and will still certainly enjoy setting up the new spot.

Here’s to the start and end of various journeys.

They hold the most meaning because it’s not MY custom sample collection display, it’s OURS.

Let’s be real, if this was all mine I would’ve sold and bought back and resold and rebought back everything years ago.

I’d be a big ol phony if I let these all go.

I’d let these go for about $125k. $100k for me and $1k for 25ish people as an apology to them.

Unless I had to sell for horrible financial reasons, that’s the lowest I’d go as it’s prob only 5x the cost into them.

I couldn’t possibly have $40k into it.

Napkin math and trying to be conservative, say 85 displays worth, avg 4 samples per display, majority of samples prob $30 with a couple of em in the $200ish range (fricken charity auctions), lets say avg $40.

85x4x40 is $13,600.

Again pretty conservative, add in the appropriate amount of stupid prices, true number of samples, shipping and cases, duplicates I’ve given away, and samples handed out randomly when drinking at WSOP or other games and I’d say $20k is a solid estimate I’m into it for.

Edit - as many state, it’s much more about the time and energy than $. Plenty of folks here can write a 10/15/20k check.

Takes time and effort to put it together, and the risk of divorce or maiming to actually put it up on walls.

Prob tiny amounts compared to most collectors, but having hosted less than 5 times in years, I certainly didn’t plan on amassing drawerfulls of randomness.

I’m pretty good at randomly handing things off to people, but I’m only 3 drawers deep and wondering why I’ve made 95% of my purchases

I need this to not take anymore time and move on to bigger things, planned on handing off majority of my unopened cards, piles of duplicate cut cards, extra drink tables, 3d prints, etc. but couldn’t find a local chipper to come help go through/take this.

I can only imagine the piles of cards and nonsense some of y’all have….

I thought about just listing or doing a competition or some nonsense, but it’s more work to do that instead of just throwing everything into a corner and letting packers box it up.

The Menagerie has reached the end of it's term here with the local royalty, and will be traveling to quieter but more expanse lands due east.

Not looking forward to figuring out the right way to document the samples, pull out duplicates, and get them situated. If anyone enjoys chipping and wants to come assist getting through 44 boxes of samples, by all means.
