Last night playing $.25 / $.50 home game. $1 straddle is on. I'm in MP with AA. Two players limp the straddle. I open to $5.50. Our resident wild man on the button 3bets to $30 which means literally any two card. SB (fish) calls $30. Folds to me who jams $150. BU snaps with ~$60 effective. SB tanks. And tanks. And gripes. And moans. And "this is such a bad call." And "I should fold." And tanks. And puts in the call (has me covered).

Cards on their back - Hero with AA, BU with T9o, SB with 56d.

Flop comes - diamond. diamond. diamond.

The end.

Bonus story - had T8 suited three times last night. Didn't win any!

That's how the cookie crumbles sometimes. I don't think anyone would have done anything differently there.

It was in the Poker Strategy section so I thought for a second it would be about Poker Strategy.

You got it in good, keep cash in your bankroll and you'll be right.
For sure! Thankfully I was able to claw back to just above even for the night. Which felt like a huge win.

My home game is pretty funny. It's $.25/$.50 and starts real tame with small buy ins. ($40 - $60). And by the end of the night we have like $300 pots. I think our biggest pot ever was like $700.

I'm not sure on the actual stats but when you are all in with AA preflop and you get 2+ callers, it sure seems like they get cracked a lot.

Its one of those things that humans are bad at picturing. We're supposed to lose 4 out of 10 times which is a healthy chunk, almost half the time, but we feel we're owed the win because we got it in good.

Gotta keep taking those flips though!

I'm pretty good at picturing it.. when I have AA and get 2 calls I almost expect to lose so 4/10 makes sense... it's just math right?

Hero puts in 33% of the pot and expects to win 60% of the pot. Thats a huge +ev overlay. It is really hard to get money into the pot with better odds.

To be sure, Hero's aces lose 40% of the time. That is a good thing. Keeps the gambling villains "on the hook", willing to take the worst of it in hopes of a big score. That mindset and the occasional lucky runout just fuels the gambler mentality.

"I can play any two cards sucker!" Sure thing friend. you really out played me that hand. Someday I'll learn not to mess with you -=- DrStrange
