Not only are they shallow - they're concave, thus promoting spillage. Which isn't so bad because that table would wipe clean pretty easily.

On second thought, that table could make a mean gaming table. Something like Settlers could work. Cup holders could hold your roads etc. Got a medieval feel to it.

Honestly, that would be a badass Catan table if it fit the center hex. The "cupholders" would actually work fine for your roads and settlements.

You'd probably want to fit the full 6 player board:

I really like Settlers, but controlling all the cards and hexes on a slick table can really be a mess. This guy really helps keep things organized:
