Homer Donut Dealer Button (1 Viewer)

Thanks for the idea.
I'm using a drill press with a forstner bit, a fresh piece of wood underneath, and clamp on the button. It cuts through smoothly if I go slow...but the breakthrough on the back side always makes a cracking sound, even when it's just fine. I think it's the last scrap of the hole finishing off.
Scares me each time it does it, but the button has been just fine so far! :ROFLMAO:

Ceramic is the perfect description of this stuff. Hard and brittle.
You did a fantastic job. Very clean cut.

Well, I made some!
I used the deep fryer over at @BR Pro Poker  :ROFLMAO:

I made a minimum order, so I only have 8 to offer.
I’ll reach out to the first people that expressed an interest in the thread and see if they still want one.
I’m sure I’ll make another order of these soon, but I’ll likely need to do small batches because making the hole is a slow process…it’s really brittle when the bit is coming through the other side. For the inside edge, I used a tan permanent marker (thanks to @Benjaminotaur for the idea)
Small orders mean I don’t get any discount, either. I’ll try to do these when I can!
Treat yo self

Lots of confetti from making 10 small holes!

Are you using the full size bit start to finish, one shot from side A to side B? I'm wondering if there would be less chance of chipping/damage with a small pilot hole through and through first and then using that to center a full size bit slowly working your way in alternating from both sides to meet in the middle (hopefully, less chance of significant damage)? Or, if there is minor damage, a little chamfering could take it out?

Fwiw, I wouldn't mind buying a factory second... ;):D

That turned out better than I expected

I'm using a forstner bit like this:

As it drops down, the point in the middle is great for centering, then the outer edge starts cutting the perimeter. The blades do clean-out.
When it gets to the end, the point emerges first then the outer edges create a small disc. It's that disc separating that makes a crack sound.
It doesn't blow out at all, and no damage if I go very slowly. The bit is really great.
Knock on wood, no damaged buttons yet.

I designed the button with crosshairs in the center to help line it up on the drill press:

Very creative, man! Wow really cool. I would love the opportunity to snag one if possible.

I'm hoping you make these again so much that I will drop my early on request of 2 buttons down to 1 so you can share the wealth of this tasty goodness!!
