Notes from last night:

Special Reserve is thin. OK at $25. I prefer Buffalo Trace at this price, or Maker's Mark if you want a wheater. Special Reserve is just ok. There is nothing bad about it, but it is simple. I don't understand why people hunt this bottle.

12yr is very good. The age is noticed and the oak is balanced. Would be amazing at 107 or 114 proof, like the Antique 107 or Full Proof. Probably not worth more than $100ish, honestly.

CYPB is very good. But honestly, I prefer Antique 107. And Antique 107 is MUCH easier to find and much cheaper when you do.

Antique 107 is fantastic. It is complex and at a very good proof. The finish is comfy for me. I can often find this bottle around $80ish (even with our super high taxes). I would make this a daily drinker if I could find it at retail all the time.

Full Proof is the nuts. It is complex and the 114 proof is perfect. I love this bottle. But I don't think that I would ever pay more than $120ish for it.

Final notes: Weller has a great lineup. Are they worth the hunt? Yes. Are they worth the crazy secondary prices? No, especially when there are so many other great options for under $100, including many wheaters.
I get the SR for $25 and the OWA for $50, thats the only 2 I ever see here in Ohio but they are pretty frequent if you show up on delivery day.

Dropping soon, keep an eye out. I'll try to get extras for you lot if I can. My hunting in the last year is about 25% of what it used to be. New job, timing is different, driving route is different, I'm lucky to get anything good or even mildly allocated. But, I remain optimistic!

so many of my notes for different whiskeys are like this: "good, good, better, great... only #2 and #4 are worth retail and none of them are worth secondary" There will be another thing next week.

I’ll let you know. I’ll start with a small tasting pour.

This is really nice. Very smooth sipping especially for the proof. Very peppery upfront but in a pleasant way. It was gently sweet but not syrupy. Hints of apple, lavender and honeysuckle. I enjoy this profile all day. Might need to have a second pour.

It is already in a glass. Just pound the bottle. (your pours are large sir) lol

I decided to try the lowest level for my second pour. Tomorrow is “team building” day at work so all I have to do is get to a beautiful park on the Chesapeake bay to eat crabs, mission BBQ, and drink beer. Possibly playing cornhole, can jam, etc. weather is 69 and sunny who hooo!

I can’t remember how I rated them months back. I’ll let you know in a bit.
II is very good. All of the traditional bourbon notes. But for me, V is better. A fruit bomb on the nose. The palate starts sweet and fruity, then ramps up to some good heat and spice.

I'm torn on Remus Repeal VI. They raised MSRP, and the oldest whiskey is younger than the youngest whiskey from last years batch V. Last year though was so good they could have doubled the price and it still would have been worth it.
