Last year, if I was a little more on the ball, I could have had one (or more if I got creative) at $90 and one or two at $70. I only ended up with the one at $90. This year, who knows, but I will send a proxy if that's what it takes to get an extra.

He got 12x12, 144 bottles. Around here that will last a while. There are a few bourbon hounds, but not like the some of the major metro areas where you have to camp out just to get a chance at an ECBP.

I cracked the bottle open to let it breathe a little. After dinner tonight I'll do my sampling, and compare it to some ECBPs I have open and sitting around. I'll be sure to report back. My guy Ami (short for Amrinder) says it's the highest proof store pick they've let out of the warehouse. Take that for what it's worth, but I'd need evidence to back that one up.
 
OK, so the Private Barrel 132.7 proof. I had a drink earlier. Then somehow my allergies kicked up this evening, which happens maybe once every 5 or 10 years (when they kick up at night). So that interrupted me.

It's 132.7 proof, so it's ethanol heavy, and you have to expect that. I immediately sample smelled my first pour and it was very ethanol heavy. Then I let it sit for a few minutes and sample smelled again. It was amazing. I got leather and mahogany with just a hint of sweetness. I'm not well versed in high end bourbons at all, so take it for what it's worth, but it's a top five bouquet for me all time, maybe top two. It's what I imagine one of those Magnus Cigar Blend bourbons would smell like if I ever had some. Just fantastic.

I took my first sip, did the Kentucky Chew, and immediately forgot the results. It drank hot, as expected. Subsequent sips were also hot, but not as bad. The flavor profile reminded me a lot of other ECBP. Unfortunately, my best way to communicate that is to compare, and I didn't get a chance to do that before my nostrils plugged up. I'm only 90-95% recovered from Covid anyway. I'll tackle it again tomorrow. Any requests of which ECBP I compare it to? I have A119, and everything from A121 to A122. My default test will be vs A122 if nobody chimes in otherwise.
 
Does anyone know when the new Stagg JR is coming out? I haven't seen or heard anything. Also, EHT Barrel Proof Rye?!

That boggles my mind.

I got to Kroger at 8:50 and was roughly 20-25th in line. There were 3 bottles left on the shelf when I checked out. Still the only time I’ve seen 107 on a shelf.
