If I named three, I’d be lying. The Binions WSOP (leaded THCs) chips are the undisputed greatest of all time, in my eyes. I could probably come up with another 20 sets I’d have tied for second place. Probably more.

Ben Book warning!!

Also does it have to be from what you own or are we sharing dreams here. For many here all 3 of these answers are residing in WW's chip cabinets! Lol

Also you will find this hobby has hundreds of different directions you can go on this. Cash/Tourney, fantasy/custom/casino, clay/ceramic/plastic.

For me Grail means quest... something built over time and not purchased like a set of customs, while others would argue the journey of designing and building a custom set is the quest. For me those would be categorized under GOAT sets.

For me right now one of my favorite sets is a mixed set... that wouldn't be in the running at all for most here but I love it, and I am someone that typically is not a fan of mixed sets in general.

So why is this so special? Well the word Grail also means In essence "Rare" this is the only know rack of fracs, one of two playable quantities known of the $1s, the $5 rocks our MD. State flag colors (huge hit with our local players) 2 racks of $25s known and the Hundos again go back to a tribute to our flag. Old school retro vibes of Nevada, wonderful spot progression... I love everything about it. But to someone else it is likely just OK or another "run of the mill" mixed THC set. Again Grail is in the eye of the beholder.

Another fine example would be our Artichoke Joe's Micro set... flat out ugly, doesn't look like much, but I know what it takes to put this together, about 3 years and a bunch of favors from fellow chippers, and still not totally playable.

Many here would likely say that looks awful and wouldn't want them if someone gave them away. For me they are precious... my babies and extremely rare on some of the denoms. Only 3 known playable sets and none of them are alike! Grail? Yes they are to me, but not necessarily to anyone else.

My final choice would be our Jokers Wild Santa Rosa CA. Original shaped inlay leaded yellow $5s, my favorite chip ever made the Green frac, beautiful white $20s. For Cali chip lovers, this one is special.

But like others it has its draw backs... the $1s are very used. (21 per barrel) there is no original $100 so I will be making it. What will become the dime must also be relabeled... can you have relabeled chips in a Grail set?? IDK, also people hate the red $1 because typically it is a $5, it causes confusion at the tables. Doesn’t bother me, I love that they are all 414 but others may find the spot progression boring (since there is none)

There's 3 examples of what I like, what I consider Grail status... but others may think all are 2s on a 1-10 scale. This is a very personalized hobby.

For me the true Grail is @Windwalker Nevada Lodge scrown TRKs, @41Pickup V1 Tropicanas and @Seeking Alpha Social Club Winners Club oversized Paulson tourney set,all super rare and desirable!

GOATs would be customs Pillage n Plunders, Rosie's Bayou, Speak EC, Barrel House, Casa Mangos, Silver Tounged Devils, Story Hill, Suicide Queens and soo many others.

I myself asked a veteran coming into the hobby what the best is, I was given answers and steered in a direction.. . But again that is one person's opinion. Over time you will be able to likely answer that one on your own.

AST. I love those colors and hot stamps. I don't even have one, currently, but someday...

Absolute perfect example, I am not a fan of the WSOP Binions at all, a single 8V yes sir! Multiple back to back in a line up... well I know I can only have 1 beer this night and still going to be confused. Not at all a fan of all 8v chip sets, absolutely hands down love the history behind the chips/rarity another check, but 50/50 on edge spots to actual base chip color... no thanks, almost too much going on for my liking. Plus solid $1 to 8v, 8v, 8v, then start stepping down in spot progression?

Now Rob you do own 2 sets that I would like a chance to felt. Personally I rank one of them higher than this one, the other would rank lower based on simplicity/availability and overall condition but again I would rather play those.

Sometimes they say less is more and this is one of those examples for me!

On rarity/amazing history I would rather have a chance to play Vegas World solid HS's over the Binions myself.

I could name three grail TRK sets, that don't exist, although someone here claims do exist. However, that claim is specious without pics.

My reality-based grail sets, in mint/NM condition (natch):

Trop first issue cash
Trop second issue cash
Suicide Kings TRK cash
Riverside large crown cash

I can’t argue with any of that. I just think that particular set is a sum greater than it’s parts, due mostly to its history. And that sorta gets to my earlier point. Personally I need leaded THCs with textured inlays, to consider a set for all-time great status. Maybe leaded TRKs. But there are so many sets like that, with amazing colors, spot patterns, and inlays, that it takes something extra to separate them, for me.

Grail sets are in the eyes of the beholder. What's a grail set to one may be ordinary for another. It's all about what you're happy with!
This is the only answer to the question in this thread.

ANY other answer is only perspective and opinion, and not fact.
