Wow! I really have nothing to add 'cause any of those would be awesome.

I am drawn to the bottom right one with a few minor tweaks. I love the chrome effect on the first inlay and I love the solid white circle around the denom. The gradient background is perfect on this one and gives the inlay dimension which works great here.

I also really like the stripes on the first one as long as its used sparingly (not on every denom).

But if your plan is to use all different scenes on each chip and 2 different per chip, then use 'em all as is. As for the overall look, I love the ring from the top middle but make it black and white "spots" to emulate a checkered flag.

Thinking about using Paymaster font from chip 1, denomination from chip 3, and outter ring from chip 2 on all chips. Playing around with moving their placement around on different chips depending on the car art for that chip. Also playing around with using multiple backgrounds. Looking at using the backgrounds on chips 2,3, and 6 on different chips.

Solid plan and I think the set would be better if able to utilize diverse backgrounds. I like the racing stripe effect of chip 1 and that denom treatment and also the things you listed. Chip 3 checkered flag would be great as hundo.

Received some more photos from the gentleman who had sent the batch previously

"This was shot at the NASCAR Winter Nationals, in Deland, FL, about 1964 or 65.

Unfortunately, Buddy is in the opposite lane, and because the flash only has so much power it doesn't light up the far lane as well as foreground subject. Still, it's Buddy running against a big-name racer in both.

Arnie Beswick was a big name racer in the 60's, first in A/Factory Experimentals and later in Funny Cars. He continues to race today, in his 70's!

Bill Knafel was equally well known in the 60's.

The Pontiac Tempests were factory built race cars. Both had 421 Pontiac Super-Duty engines, dual four-barrels and fiberglass front ends. Today an original Tempest coupe or wagon is easily $225-250k at a top-end auction like Barrett-Jackson!

The dragster shot is again, far-lane. (sorry!) This was at Masters Field, Miami. Buddy is running Bob Stratman's A/Dragster. Bob was also a regular at the SFTA drags. He lives here in Port Orange. His daughter and mine were high school friends and played HS basketball together. Long time ago, now."

Don't want to nit pick, but..... Even with red lettering the visual focus is on the blue car. It's a color thing and I recognize the historical accuracy bit. There should be a way to address this, and it might just be a different color background. Dunno. Like I said nit picking - these are stunning.

Are you sure I can't buy a whole set? You see, 99% leaves a certain ceramic set that is the exception to the rule. Just like your Cali color set.

I think the red lettering will help. Also they will be smaller and on a colored background so I think that will mitigate it as well but you are right that it's a concern. Let's see them on a mocked up chip first.

Honestly I don't know that I would mind if someone wanted to get a playable set of these. I'd have to see if GOCC minded me increasing the order by that much or if they needed to do it separately.

I always said there will never be a playable Hitching Post set outside of mine because the Hitching Post is a place and I own it. But these are to commemorate my dad. If someone else wanted a full set I don't know that I would be opposed to it.

But then again I might. I dunno. I'd at least think about it if you were serious.

As much I'd love a set of these, I cannot ask for that on so many levels. I joke about it, sure because who wouldn't want them!? But going there is wrong IMO. I will be honored with samples!

I bought usage rights for Toby's original black cat chips. When the time comes, I won't do a thing without him knowing what I might do. It's not like we buy customs to make money (ha!), but their uniqueness would be devalued if the sets proliferated. I won't even consider doing that to your father's memory.

Found this while searching through cataloged stuff.

Again far-lane. The "Travel Gas Special" was an A/Gas '40 Willys four-door, from Jacksonville. Car in the far lane is your dad's '32 Ford three-window coupe. This car had a 392 Chrysler Hemi and two four-barrel carburetors. It also ran in A/Gas class.

This was likely run-off for the A/G class trophy, around 1961. (?)
