Seriously, this has to stop. I just received a set and don't even remember ordering them...
According to earlier posts in this thread, just the cases were purchased from Modiano to keep the costs down, & they are supposedly cellulose acetate which only Kem & possibly CartiMundi use, vs PVC acetate or other ....[/QUOTE]Err...I just noticed something. I received the Guild Bridge cards from Gambler's Warehouse. I was just putting one deck back and I noticed that the plastic case is broken and missing a piece. Actually, two pieces, but one is fairly large over 1 inch, but thin, so the lid covered the area. The entire pack was sealed and I don't recall any pieces falling out, after I unwrapped the case. ...
I haven't read ever post on this thread, but i was some folks saying they thought these might be Modiano copies. Are they Modiano cards?
May be a typo but maybe notI've got 3-4 of these setups and liked them.
Current listing on Amazon has some commentary on the material, but I don't think Amazon is known for 100% credible descriptions.
Might be a typo on the 00% Acetate or might be a revision for truth in advertising?

There aren’t many acetate cards in the market. Maybe “acetate” and “cellulose acetate” are two different things
I took my Guilds out last night and shuffled them a few times. I have a very very hard time accepting that these are actually acetate. I have Kems as well as Cartamundi and Dal Negro acetate cards. All three are slightly different in feel but definitely have a common unique feel that is very different than PVC. Guilds feel exactly like PVCThe More You Know:

Acetate plastic
In short, acetate, also known as cellulose acetate is made out of natural materials acquired from plants. It is a nylon-based plastic that is hypoallergenic. Regular plastic is made from petroleum-based nylon pellets. Acetate plastic does not harm the environment. Raw materials are not extracted by introducing chemicals to the source which harm the environment. Also, acetate plastic decomposes over time.
Hmmmm... does that mean our Modiano Platinum Acetate/Guild decks have an expiration date?

These used to be $20 but prices in general but especially for playing cards have gone up 20 to 25% across the board. Fourniers even including shipping used to be $30 per two deck set up, and they're now up to $40.do people who own these cards like them ? are they worth the almost $30 shipped they are ? or would you stick with Desjgn for $25 a set up ?

Just played with the Guild decks again this weekend. They are a bit stiffer than others when shuffling.Guilds and Desjgns have a slightly different feel and look but overall I would put them on the same level. I still have and use my guild setups (along with Modianos, Desjgns and Fourniers), they've stayed fully un-bowed for several years now. I think playingcards.net has them for $28 and amazon still has some sets for $23. Can't go wrong with either setup IMHO.

Where did you buy them from?I just picked up a set of poker sized jumbo index the other day. Yes, they came in a Modiano box. . I like them but I have to see how much I like them LOL
Guild are nice, but I would pick Desjgn over them. You’re probably going to get people that feel totally opposite as well.
AmazonWhere did you buy them from?
I got my 2 setups from Amazon 5 years ago (wow) and I dont dare play with them as I fear I cant replace them.
Just got my setup the other day. Cards are beautiful although after one 8 hour session of using them I have noticeable paint loss and the cards were rather sticky on many of the cards. I know this is fairly common in almost all cards when played but I just happened to notice that these cards seemed to pick it up more than others. Just thought I'd mention! Still a beautiful set and I plan on using them in the future
The last time I checked, they were on eBay.Hi, MinneMassive. Where did you order your Guilds? Can't find em on Amazon anymore.
TIA!
Saw this old thread pop up under “similar threads”. This time period was the beginning of my card buying spree. Since they I have accumulated many card to compare and contrast.
I was kind of shocked to see these card listed as acetate as I threw away the paper outer box and forgot. I have no idea how these cards are acetate. Acetate cards have a very very distinctive feel. These feel exactly like PVC cards. Are they still calling them acetate?
I’m 99.99999999% sure the Guilds aren’t acetate.Funny I was able to snag a double-deck of Guild as well. All giddy that these are acetate.
Don't get me wrong, I like them, but I feel like they're barely any different than DaVinci PVC cards that I have. I expected more closer to Kem and instead I got closer to PVC. I think I might even...maybe...say that I like the DaVinci better. Something with the texture.
Again, I like them, I'd put them in the top half of my decks.... but they're just a bit disappointing more than anything. I expected better.
At initial look I suspect these may be made by Modiano. I know the box is Modiano but there is something about the fonts and pips that also kinda says Modiano to me. The Guilds are bridge standard and my DaVinci are bridge standard and they look extremely close to me.
Guess it probably doesn't really matter much anymore as I think these have been out of production for awhile now and don't appear to be coming back.
Again, pretty darn nice cards but they don't have anything near that soft KEM feel and instead feel more like softer PVC. And I'd argue that Broken Arrow Professional series actually feel softer than the Guilds. I paid $30 including tax and shipping. I'd say not worth it. Its too bad... I was suckered in by the "ACETATE" on them. DaVinci are basically just as good for like $18. Broken Arrow Professional Series are very good and I wanna say like $15 including shipping.
I'd skip the Guild if you find them, unless they're under $20.
They're old Modiano Elements stock, IIRCI’m 99.99999999% sure the Guilds aren’t acetate.
You are only going to find one card that feels like a Kem (even a little softer)…and that’s Angel Acetate. Trust me. You can stop looking.
