Shipping to germany (1 Viewer)

How many chips are we talking about?

As a general rule of thumb, use DHL, as their worldwide service is unmatched, I'm my opinion.

International shipping is always an issue, and it's always expensive, so "Yes, and "Yes."
I don't like the statement that international shipping is always an issue because it isn't. It discourages new members to embark on their own chipping journey when there is no reason to not take the plounge.
Sure, shipping internationally is more expensive than shipping nationally. And that is about it. Planes don't drop out of the sky as often anymore and packages usually make it to their destiny.
I've imported around 3500 chips from the US, canada, great britain, norway, sweden and more countries. I did so in packages of 700 chips down to single barrels. Not one package has gone missing.

Well that is not entirely true. One package went missing when I had it send from inside the US to... wait for it - an adress inside the US. @FortyMorty can back me up here.

There are additional costs in terms of shipping and customs to consider but let's face it - chipping is expensive. More so for us international chippers than the rest but nonetheless we deserve our shot at nice chips. So fck you CONUS only.

For shipping International don't use UPS, always prefer Fedex or DHL
USPS has been working nicely for me but the two times I used FedEx were pretty impressive in terms of speed of delivery.
You can't go wrong with either I'd say.

If you have questions concerning customs, just shoot me a pm.

Told you he'd be able to help  :ROFLMAO:

USPS has worked fine for me as well. A couple of packages were very delayed in the beginning of covid but that’s two out many many many. Some make it out to be a big deal because one has to fill out a customs form and attach it to the package, but it really isn’t

Is it expensive, yes. Granted - but that's on the buyer, and we know what we are walking into with that.

What's the constant issue you have had with international shipping?
From the seller's side the process is the same, other than having to fill out a small customs form. You still need to pack them up nice and safe & write an address on the side. If filling out a customs form with a name/address/contents/value is troublesome, then that's a whole different conversation.

So I did some research dhl and fedex were like $300 to ship and usps was around $200. Is this for real people?

Yes. To all of this.

The prices for international shipping are what they are - my only advice is to combine smaller shipments into one larger one if possible to help bring the "per chip" shipping cost down. Shipping extremely small quantities can be fairly cost prohibitive otherwise.

In terms of shippers, I've had dozens of shipments sent via USPS without issue, including sets worth several thousands of dollars. Recently though, I've preferred to use FedEx or DHL due to their expediency vs. USPS. Pricewise, the difference vs. USPS really isn't all that much if shipping quantities equivalent to a Large FRB.

International shipping is much more expensive than domestic shipping. But that's on the buyer.

I've shipped and received many international packages. Never had any issues.

It may require an additional form (customs declaration), but these are pretty easy to fill out. Just make sure you have all the information of the buyer (ie. phone number).

I'm afraid you've presumed some things I believe are not correct. I have no issue with anyone anywhere who wants to order anything. Mostly, the issues are with the carriers, their flawed processes and (mostly) their cost.

U.S. Customs forms now need to be completed online, and even the postal service employees don't know how to fill those forms out. I'm told there is one guy at my post office who really knows how to do those correctly, but he's never there.

When you enter all the correct information online, their system will kick your form back several times, erasing the form each time, so you'll need to start over. It will take about an extra half hour, if you're lucky. I've had packages take an extra hour. (There is an issue with weight/quantity that happens with casino chips, since they're each only 9 grams (0.035 ounces), and their system wants to know how many "ounces" each one is.) That remains unresolved with USPS's system.

Ironically, on the fifth or sixth try, it will accept all the information you entered the first time, and all those other times. That's an issue.

You've also understated what goes on the form. I wish it were only the information you describe. It use to be.

Now you'll need the correct HS Tariff Numbers, (a 6-digit number which you must enter into a box that allows 4 digits. Good luck!) ; the appropriate exemption code for your export license requirement, and some other things, too.

When you take a domestic package to a U.S. Post Office, you can scan it and place it into a bin at the counter. No waiting. International packages? Get in line and wait. (It's usually a long line.) That's an issue.

And customers (generally) don't know how much the shipping will actually cost. They don't check (even though they could), and they don't "know what (they) are walking into." When they learn the shipping cost, they sometimes cancel the order. They feel bad about cancelling. I feel bad, too. But they didn't know.

So there are issues with International shipping that make it more expensive (shockingly so) and much more difficult and challenging than hitting "ship" on PayPal for a domestic order and printing a label. That's not my "constant issue." That's fact.

That said, I have over 100 customers outside the United States, and most are repeat customers. I'll keep sending chips whenever they or anyone else outside the U.S. -- would like, but when someone asks if there are issues with international shipping, I will answer honestly.

I realize the answer is not popular, and I wish it were not so. Gone are the days when shipping was affordable and the process easy and fast. I also realize there is a tendency here to blast anyone who points this out.
