What is going on here? W/ sales (2 Viewers)

But if you don’t repeat, how do you find that rare thought? You need discussion, and that’s people talking AND not always agreeing. Most discussion now is “listen to me rant, and then I’m putting you on my ignore list” to end the discussion.

Finding that rare thought is what keeps me in these threads. Hoping that I’ll find a new point of view

That, and boredom haha

Who wrote this? I can't see them on my ignore list....

Thank you for your advice , me myself having doubts paying that much for chips. Especially when I know 100% that they where once like you said 1$ a chip. It’s just not right but hey every man for himself and what he wants to do with his own money. I won’t say money isn’t a issue. It’s paying that amounts that’s holding me back having thoughts so yes money is a issue. I would like to have the PNY’s , the 25$ and $100 are expensive but affordable still. The $500 and 1k are just stupid , and funny thing is I found out that the yellow $20 and $2.5 same prices have as the $500. it’s simple principle here , the better looking the chip is , the more expensive it goes for

You are welcome...
Good thing you don't need to buy any $20's or $2.50's to build a set so whatever on those. I had sort of forgotten. All chips $25 & up have an RFID in there. Not a common feature in a home game set.....
Here is some PRON just to put a little positivity on this thread: The 2 $500's & close up of the RFID

I like both $500’s. They’re just beautiful , if they where only 43mm like the 1K. I’m getting 1 rack of 25’s and 1 rack of 100’s and 2 barrels of primary $500’s

You have been away a long time, and must have missed the memo that Grand Inlays suck now.

I jest, but opinions have definitely changed quite a bit regarding some of the premier sets of old.

I wasn't the one that asked about them. I actually was one of the few that didn't go all gaga over them way back in the day. I never was a fan of that giant oversized inlay. I always thought it sort of looked a bit off to my eye, but hey, everything is in the eye of the beholder.

I wonder how many mints paulson casino sets were available, back when these were considered a premier set? I'm guessing very few.

I think there were quite a few actually...not to mention TRKs. Most of which were just sitting around on shelves because of their $3 pricepoint. I think what made the sets like PNY and CPs special were that they had the Higher Denominations available, and at the time everyone was playing tournaments.

An example would be if someone is currently offering $750/rack for PCA $5s, which previously went for ~$500.

That’s not RFID, it’s a security dot that has the tiny text in it which is very hard to print, which is why it’s a security feature. Paulson didn’t make RFID chips until they merged with BG and became part of GPI. They started making RFID chips in 2004, and these were made in 1998.

I think it refers as Alphadot. It’s still a cool looking feature !

This thread makes me laugh. “Oh, prices 10 years ago were $1/chip.” “How can we protect newbs who don’t know what these chips are worth?” “If only @Windwalker didn’t drive all the prices up.” “I can’t believe people immediately flip the chips that Jim sells.”

In the meantime, people are paying $1000s for little disks that have little if any instrinsic value. You all could just as easily use dice chips.

The market is the market. Supply and demand. And that is one aspect of PCF. It’s not terribly complicated. And plenty of “non-market” deals happen between friends privately.
Yes. Thank you.

Recently acquired this set. Yep.........expensive, errrrr, fair market value, but I'm happy with it, so fuck it.

I was just about to nerd-out on that very point myself!

I've been really biting my tongue here for a few days. I still am, to be honest, but the heartburn this thread has caused me is almost unbearable.

Even people I thought had common sense have been out for lunch, honestly.

I do not think there is any thread in the history of PCF with more non-sense.

You guys think prices are driving people away from the forum? Nah, threads like this are...

Are members leaving? I haven't noticed. If so. I don't think threads like this would drive members out any more than the pcfebay classifieds or the over moderation.

Well, if you haven't noticed, many of the old school chippers do not post that much anymore. The bitching is just too much. About anyone and everything. The classified is a service to members who want to buy and/or sell chips for the prices the buyers and sellers are comfortable with. Why would anyone be upset about A and B transacting at a certain price is beyond me. Over moderation? Not sure what you're talking about. No over moderation imo.
