I was in Biloxi over the weekend for a race, so my wife and I went to spend some time at the Beau Rivage. I was just really happy that I could get into a live poker game again, but didnt really enjoy it. Of course, 100% masks were required, and then the tables were divided with plexi into cubicles and limited to 6 player. Overall it really killed the experience. Its hard enough to talk and hear with masks, but the plexi made it that much worse. Making the tables short also meant paying double the blinds per hour, so when you are on a bad run (which of course I had) thats a lot of wasted chips while waiting for playable cards. I can say that I WONT be going back to casino poker until things go back to normal.

Ya masks and plexi. Makes perfect sense cuz the covid won’t pass on any poker chips or any plastic cards. In cali It also comes out more after 10pm I thought? Oh ya OK 6 max no limit boredom? That’s the only positive I see. 6 better then 9 I guess unless your a nit but I’m with you. I’m done with this hocus pocus plandemic minus the fact our local games have never been bigger or better then right now. Nice and comfy in the living room.

A lot of people won’t get access to a vaccine until April, many are saying. I’m hoping to start hosting again around Memorial Day.
Yeah, I play with guys from work (fire dept) and our chief would probably try to fire us if we were gathering for regular games. Just had half my shift test positive, so theres massive OT going out and chief isnt a happy camper right now.

Covid19 transmission rate ivia objects s low. Plus players can wash/sanitize their hands much easier than their eyeballs or surrounding air.
Oh ya is that what “they” say now? Is that on TV? Ok so low means like won’t happen at all or happens slower or low means like it’s close to my shoes low? Low deff means safe so we can go back to work? Asking for myself and friends. If masks work why are “they” saying numbers are up? Is that part of the “low” crowd?

Also, anyone that gets a vaccine will still be required to wear a mask. We won’t see “normal” until there’s herd immunity.
Sadly....quite a ways off

You already know the answer to all of these, and you’re trolling, but I’m going to bite anyway, because it’s important.

Yes, the reputable media outlets are reporting new findings from the scientific community. A community that, as a whole, has done yoeman’s work in the last 10 months.

It means the transmission rate via objects is less than the transmission rate of airborne. Transmission through objects does still occur and people should still take steps (wash hands, hand sanitizer) to minimize the chances of this occurring. With that said, airborne transmission is the main enemy and should be the main focus.

Laundry list of variables to determine this, e.g. the nature of your work, are you in close proximity to others? Is everyone able to wear a mask? Is your work indoors, and if so, can it be well ventilated? I surmise you are out of work right now because of this, and I sympathize, I really do. I’m one of the fortunate ones that hasn’t been affected.

Because people with your mindset aren’t wearing them, they continue to go about their lives unabated. Keeping with their home games, doing big family gatherings for thanksgiving, etc. Meanwhile I haven’t played live poker since March and haven’t seen a person I consider family or friend in over a year.

What you’re essentially arguing against is the scientific method, something that is mostly responsible for our high standard of living that all of us enjoy.

My mom who works in the Covid testing tent. My cousin works in the ER. My girlfriend’s sister has Lupus. I have elderly grandparents in long term care facilities.

I’d ask everyone to just chill out with the flagrant disregard for others for just a couple months until we get the most vulnerable populations taken care of.

I wonder why the CDC and other groups at the top never recommended that the U.S. wear masks during the regular flu season since 40 - 80k people have been dying from that respiratory illness every year for many, many years.

I lost u at reputable media outlets. Sorry not sorry. Your being fooled.

Because generally, those people with the flu feel like sh*t and stay home anyways. The real twist here is that you can have Covid and feel fine, all the while infecting every person you come near.
This creates a scenario that spirals so out of control so quickly that hospitals cannot nearly help all the people they need to.
Masks and distancing were never meant to stop the spread totally. It’s only to be able to make all this manageable.

You have always been able to pass the flu without symptoms.

Disease experts have always known how the flu/respiratory viruses spread, so why did they never recommend masks in the past seasons?

How did over 900k hospitalizations in that season not overwhelm the hospital system?

I'm not a covid denier, I just have a few questions when I go on the CDC website and do a little research.
It seems to me that people like fauchi have always known exactly how respiratory disease is spread... So I ask again, why did the CDC never recommend masks in past flu seasons?

Do me a favor, when you’re in your final days and struggling to breathe, don’t even think about calling an ambulance to take you to the hospital. Stay strong! Remember it’s a hoax and it will soon pass.

Our med professionals are overwhelmed, so you Covid deniers can just stay home. Ditto on vaccine, don’t even think about taking that, who knows what kind of nasty shit the government puts in it to control you or create autism or whatever you idiots are claiming these days.

Muted, and unfollowing this thread. May god have mercy on your soul.

Back to the original point of this thread, casino poker...

I've found casino play during the pandemic *very* enjoyable. I've been to Borgata a bunch of times since they reopened poker, and even though the games are 7-max and they added Eichmanns to every single seat, the games have been awesome. I've stuck to Weekend games, granted, but each time I went it was more enjoyable than the last. Enough fish to keep your stack fat and enough regs and grinders to keep the games moving thew way we all want them to. Sure, table talk is more difficult, but I've been having a blast nonetheless

LOL, "Eichmanns", I love it!

  • Because each year there is a flu vaccine that is highly effective (though not 100%).
  • Flu deaths are usually below 40,000 by CDC estimates, and nowhere even remotely close to the 80k you stated. That number has grown significantly since 2007, when Jenny McCarthy came out as an Anti-Vaxxer.
  • 40,000 vs 300,000. If you can't tell the difference in those odds, we need to play poker. :sneaky:

Shorthanded poker is still poker. You need to adjust your range, and perhaps you struggled with that.

It's fair to say that you don't like mask-and-cubicle poker, but I find it also has benefits. Stinky guy is a little further away, I don't give off as many tells, about-to-puke drunk guy is safely isolated, and I have elbow room.

Also, I like shorthanded poker, but that's me. I can track the ranges of 4 opponents but I struggle to remember the hands of 9 opponents.

Back in the first few months of this year fauchi and other experts were not recommending masks, even though the CDC has clearly known for decades how a respiratory virus is spread...why?

All of the numbers I stated are from the CDC website, as you can clearly see.

Back in the first few months of this year fauchi and other experts were not recommending masks, even though the CDC has clearly known for decades how a respiratory virus is spread...why?
The reason they did not initially recommend wearing of masks is detailed in the link I provided above. In a nutshell, the CDC researched and found that even though it was effective at reducing the spread of the flu, most people didn't comply... so it was a was not a recommended solution.
With that in mind, I can see the CDC not making the recommendation back in February to the masses because there would be a rush on masks that people would end up not using...and taking them away from essential workers that would.

Back in the first few months of this year fauchi and other experts were not recommending masks, even though the CDC has clearly known for decades how a respiratory virus is spread...why?
Because people were buying up supplies needed by emergency workers. Once data was found that 2+ ply cloth masks were effective at limiting the distance of infected droplets the recommendations were updated.

I'm done here. Obviously, reading or numbers are an issue for you. Either way, it is as useless for me to discuss the science with you, as it would be for me to discuss it with a brick.
I don't understand why your CDC numbers are more legitimate then mine? I pulled all of my numbers from CDC in June 2020...you don't find it odd that the numbers are different from the same website?
