About 18 months into the Hobby... 45k plus in chips... do we have a problem? (1 Viewer)

@Ben8257 given you've got poker chips coming out of your eyeballs and while i provide the chips I never host at my place, what's the best way to transport chips locally?

We typically always use the Apache cases from harbor freight. I dont find any comfort in bird cages
The bird cage, when I've driven with it, just rattled the entire time, but it was okay. I was more worried about walking it across my buddies town house parking lot than anything else tbh.

With the Apache cases, do you all just put standard plastic racks in and go?

We adjust the pluck foam to fit the racks/chips and add some extra support under the bottom layer of foam to bring the whole level up which helps to keep the chips stable by creating pressure to the top of the foam/case

I think the pressure from the top was what I was missing. Thanks.

Sure, no problem. We add an inch think denser foam to the underneath of the soft foam to bring everything up to the foam in the lid which conforms to the chips and keeps everything stable

Not meetup worthy?

If your chips aren't meetup worthy what does that say about my piss poor collection? ;)

All I have are DDLM's (luckily 2 new sets are on their way from The Chip Room), and I'm STILL going to throw a meetup game next year!

Great collection Ben!

DDLMs are works of art ... I don't care if they are mass produced. Splash them proudly!

For what it's worth, you do not have to add any foam for height in the Apache 3800 case, which holds up to 1,000 chips, but the case is maxed out and harder to get the chips out..

The Apache 4800 holds up to 2,100 chips. You have to triple stack seven rows of 3 stacks high!

Up to 1,400 chips would only be double high stacks and you would need the foam.

I need to get some pics without the chips in them because I get asked about these all the time!
20200928_222658.jpg

Left case is 8 racks of 43mm, 2 racks of 47mm bounties, plenty of room for extras around the edges (4800 case)center case is triple stacked 39mm (only showing 6 rows but 7 fit to the right and is 7 now older pic and set has grown) the right is a 3800 with 1000 chips double stacked but not much extra room!

20200908_162546.jpg

This 4800 has 1000 43mm chips in Matsui Type racks... they do not sit up high enough for top pressure but the lids hold the chips in place! Room for extras and buttons

20200703_134152.jpg

These are 4800s with the foam installed 1,400 chips in each. 7 racks double stacked... you can see the chips are slightly raised above the foam... pressing the chips into the top foam to hold them in place for transportation.

Better view of the elevation here... when that lid closes these chips aren't going anywhere!

1000 39mm with plenty of room shown here with @Ronoh P+P chips

Mostly because I never get tired of looking at these chips!! Haha

Hope that helps @JustDave

I guess we have just been very fortunate to join in a very dense and active PCF Region. Every game we go to has many options for sets and truly some top end sets!! its fantastic and fun man, but at the same time when I look at what we have... it makes me think, would those guys even find enjoyment in playing any of these... so for me I get stuck on the idea of "meet up worthy chips"

I never meant that as an insult to anyone else... you just have to go really big to get veteran chipper excited!!

Custom CPCs, Beautiful BTP cash and tourney, Minty rare TRKs are in play almost everywhere we go. So while I absolutely love our RHC giant inlay Aces casino chips... they are not really impressive to many.

nice write up. Very informative.

I will try to take some time and get a few shots of the cases without chips, some we cut holes in the foam... say you have 1,600 chips, cut away in the added foam under 2 racks and make just those 2 stacks triple high... I need to get some better pictures for when people ask these questions anyways. Just trying to help

@Ben8257 when you go to a meetup, is there a vote on which set gets used? I'm envisioning custom voting chips that every player casts into the fires of Mt. Doom...

It is usually pre determined but some are relaxed and let noobs pick what chips we use.

Sometimes we pick the day of!! lol

I can tell you I will not miss a game If I hear the BTPs are hitting the felt!! definitely a special treat for me!!

4 tables of 9 players each all playing 12/12/7/5 starting stacks of 43mm BTPs... what a sight!! I didn't believe it until I found myself there at the table shuffling those beauties!!

Cool! Maybe I'll get to pick when I finally make it to one. Of course, if BTP is an option, not sure how I'd pass up that clowny-colored deliciousness...

I would have paid the owner a usage fee just for inviting me to that game!! But @Chippy McChiperson and his brother @kirchhausen are truly awesome guys and happy to share with everyone!! I could never afford those Beauties!!!

have you played @Irish game yet?? your options are almost endless!! lol and Im sure if you asked a head of times that he would felt a set upon request!!

I just want to see those Barrel Houses in person man!!

Every time I read the title of this thread a little voice says “well, if your like me, your only problem is you probably don’t have enough racks”
I saw that table covered in chips at your meet up Brother!! Not sure how many were on there but you definitely have an awesome collection!

Haha, not yet!!! I really started interacting here more once the apocalypse hit, so there's been no chance to meet anyone in person yet. Matt sent me some BH samples as a thank-you for helping him get his Poker Mavens site running. I loved then so much, that it tipped me over the line into getting my own CPCs...

Done speaking with you for a little bit... unless you promise to bring your sample set for me to check out sometime!! LOL

Joking Matt actually had them made before our meet up @krafticus game last year!! I have seen them in person, can't wait to play them!!

The 05 CDI Collection has grown a touch... got them out for a family photo for our ole buddy @MegaTon44

Yes I know 2 barrels of the 1ks are the wrong color... they are a spot holder for the time being though!

(100) more $500s (I know... you don't need that many... but I love them!)
(100) more $1000s

A little more future proofing the top end with
(260) more $5000s
(40) more $25,000s

Upward to custom MSK plaques
(100) $100,000
(20) $500,000

Then it will be future proofed for $100,000 deep stack $100/$200 starting, 500 BB and tons of rebuys!

Cash set still needs some work!

Almost done! Lmao!!

Incredible. Is this a hypothetical tourney, or something you’re going to host?

Well... Krish, when you sold me the chips last year I was building this for our meet up I Ohio that @toynoob hosted. I agreed to cover the chips for the game.. but I didn't know about the unlimited rebuys.

I panicked... how many chips do I need for 40 players and unlimited rebuys??? The game had starting stacks of 20k and the rebuys are half price but you also encounter a small blind ante on your deal when you respawns as a zombie!

I decided 3 rebuys per person and built it for 40 players. Starting stacks of 16/16/12/!2.. lots of small denoms in play so rebuys could be all large chips!

We only had 18 players this year but it is ready for next year. We also play a local game that runs pretty large (36 players) so if you want to bring a guest set. It has to cover that.

Also with the Tourney world turning to T100 based games, I can still have the normal T25 based or the High Roller version, the T100 based 100k game.

So I am building it for the future, but plan to get them in play!

Ben

Sick collection brother. Looks like what you lost in pounds, you shifted that weight over into chips.

Once things die down and I feel safe having 50-60 people over in my basement, you can bring those bad boys over and they can put in work.
That would be an honor brother!!

See @Windwalker ... if you build it, they will come!!

Ohh and don't forget the hot dog roller!! I think that was the problem in OHio @toynoob ... next time we have to put that we have a hot dog roller on the flyer!! Haha
