2000 chip case (1 Viewer)

I got these custom trays from @alecnetwoodworks Obviously more expensive than regular cases or plastic trays but worth every penny.

I have a couple of these 2000 chip trolley cases that I've had for 12+ years. they work just fine for fixed storage & transporting chips from the closet to the table, I've never used them for anything more than that & I wouldn't trust them to do anything more either. Made of the same thin aluminum wall material that most chip cases are made of but with some slightly substantial (partical board) wood for the inside drawers (racks) & frame. Haven't seen any of these for sale in a long time. The one in the OP is the one like I have with the cloth pockets on the inside of the door to store setups and other gear. There were a couple of versions of these and another version I remember being really super cheaply made.

Prices haven't changed since I got mine! $64 for the cabinet

and $4 each for the casters. Everything is in stock at my local home depot, and my local home depot SUCKS!
Well you added probably $50 of oak shelves so I’m just trying to compare apples to apples. Like I said, love the solution but for similar chip count...it’s more expensive!

If anyone has one they hate, I’d love to buy it from you to test!

I'm looking for this case in question for storage only. The Apache ones you listed here would fit my needs. I will look into these.
Look into the 5800 as well. A bit deeper, so three levels works well!

https://www.pokerchipforum.com/thre...yals-in-a-5800-1100-paulsons-in-a-4800.58314/ - chips shown in that thread are 43mm. so you could easily fit more 39mm inside. The 5800 also has rollers and an extendable handle (trying to lift 2000 chips in a 4800 will be a challenge).

Look..I know we can do it with various cases if we stack...my current Versa cases probably being the extreme. But wouldn’t (ON PAPER) the ability to not stack racks be of interest?? Was for me at least!

I added about 4 dollars worth of plywood to make 2 shelves. I am comparing apples to apples, I don't know what you are doing to be honest. If you just want an excuse to do whatever you want that is fine, but others are considering options and you are giving really bad information

Wow. Ok. So much negativity lately.

You’re at the original ad’s cost with the cabinet plus castors. You added shelves you used wood you had laying around to build but Someone else has to buy.

Someone cannot build your solution for anywhere close to less than anywhere close to the ad price..especially now. Am I wrong?

But please answer with respect to the fact that we all didn’t build a cabinet whenever you did...we’re talking here and now???

@Bulldog mentioned that he was going to investigate Apache 4800, and I gave him some info about the 5800. Your "look, I know." response came across as less than positive. I'm not offended, just commenting about pots and kettles

I’m the OP so please quote what you mean? I don’t agree I said??

All of this over an outdated sale ad I was interested in. You all are right. I’m wrong.

You are wrong. Quoting a six year old ad for a product that hasn't been available for five years get you nothing and helps you store zero chips. If all you want is an ad I can make you one of those for free. How does just an ad help anyone?

Do you think I built this 95 years ago when the nation's currency was still backed by gold? I built this 8 months ago, and I don't know why you think the prices of things went up when my home depot actually has things priced the same or lower for everything since the virus put way too many people out of work.
Wow. Ok. So much negativity lately.
Look. You be you. Buy things or make things that will make you happy with what you have. All I know is you posted an online listing for an item that has not been available for YEARS, and every single option people have come up with to help you that is actually available you got a smart comment about all of them. If all you want is your ad, that's fine. Go nuts. Be you. You can print that ad, store your chips on that printed ad, and have a blast. You be you. Enjoy life, cause life is too short for this crap. While you be you, I am going to be me. Me being me is me being enough of an asshole to say "this guy ain't worth the time of day" and add you to my ignore list

It's not about being right or wrong. It's a discussion, with people putting forward different points of view. Maybe I read your comment differently than what you meant, but I was trying to provide some information to a person who was interested in a specific item (different than what you asked about in the opening post). Your response came across to me as somewhat dismissive. And then you posted a comment about negativity. The irony was more than I could handle. Sorry if my comment upset you. Can we still be friends?

Thanks all. Apparently I CAN buy shelving lumber at pre-COVID rates, I just have to say please.

I’ll then use that wood to build something that doesn’t even resemble the OP by the way..., just because I don’t want to be difficult!

Sorry for asking a question that was outside of what PCF’ers have already done! If it ain’t broke don’t fix I guess!

The post was literally to ask if anyone actually had one. Please re-read my OP. It had nothing to do with you proving that you felt you could build better. Sorry this wasn’t what you wanted.
I guess that's a no. Oh well, I tried.
I didn’t post this to make enemies. I came across an outdated product I found interesting and wondered if anyone had one. Please read my OP if you haven’t already. How that was such a crime I will never know but life is too short to play “make the regulars happy” on a forum.

I’ll be building a cabinet out of a $65 Home Depot kitchen cabinet plus $16 castors, with probably $50-$70 worth of interior oak shelves from my garage (still working on that). Should be perfect.

@tabletalker7 - just for fun - price a 2x4...close to $7 around me right now......like I said.....just for fun...nothing to do with this post.

Thanks all!

Trying to bring this thread back on track from where others took it...does anyone else have experience with this particular product vs playing the ‘I can make it better’ game? (We all know we can armchair quarterback something better than anything!)

Those who already have provided feedback, I have much appreciated the info...and I thank you!

Would love some more if anyone else has experience?
