Official Fit Competition (Sept 7 - Nov 30) (5 Viewers)

Get a stealth board and game that core!
What's that?

I have an umbilical hernia that I got about 8 years ago right after my daughter was born. Surgeon suggested I lose some weight before they fix it. 8 years later and 40 lbs heavier... So now back where I was 8 years ago. Hoping to finally lose that weight.

It makes me really protective of my abdomen.

its a little pivot thing to make planks less boring. You pu your phone on it and tilt the plank board (by doing your plank) to play little games

nice, found it. Kinda pricey.

Maybe try out some planks in general first.

8 pages in, I hope everyone is rolling along!

So, you may be wondering why I started this and haven't actually started this. I'm about as out of shape as I've ever been in three decades, and I saw quite a bit of trouble on the horizon. I was hopeful doing this would help out a bit, but just haven't gotten there yet. I'm still usually with kids throughout the day and occasional meetings/calls, and then I'm working at night once everyone has gone to bed and kitchen is clean.

This has meant lot's of nights working until 3 am-ish, and lot's of tired days. A couple years ago I might have been able to say screw it, add some workouts, and pull some all nighters, but alas those are long gone.

HOWEVER, we did just order a rowing machine and weights so the wife can have some alone time working out (by we I mean she and I'll prob use them a bit more than her), and the running stroller for the kids finally came in.

Watch out world, Barrie's gunning for 10th place! :ROFLMAO:

Let's get some action in here as well. @timinater @pacmartine how's it going fellas? Last check in you guys were already down %5 and tied in the top 5. What's working or not working for ya?

For everybody, do a weigh in some time between this Mon-Wed, one of you that do will be shipped a little goodie bag on Friday. DB, some JACK dice, maybe the King's Casino shower cap if you're lucky.

There’s still plenty of time. One thing to keep in mind in those schedule crunches is that weight management is not 50/50 eating/exercise, it’s probably 80/20. It took me a long time to realize that. A good workout is only 500-600 calories, so chopping the diet down from 3000 to 2400 has the same effect (and it’s much easier).

It’s Monday, let’s get it rollin!

Down to 244 lbs... as I said just trying for like 3 pounds a week now, definitely enjoyed sheetz Friday evening before the races and popeyes again Saturday before the races... both nights ate very reasonably. Need to get back on track with workouts, especially with the meet up this weekend, have a little room for floating on weight! 34 pounds gone and hoping to keep it going!! Again I'm good with last place as long as I reach my goals! Loose in 36s with long John's under is a great accomplishment for me!! Even though Brie has been calling me out saying I was in 34s when we met! Lol hopefully by the end of this I can be back in those 34s comfortably!!

I have always done well with the mindset of gallons of water gone! 34 pounds is roughly 4 freaking gallons just hanging on me and gone now! 42 pounds is basically one of those big heavy ass tanks, no better feeling than one of those off your body! 8 more pounds till a damn water tank is gone!!

Still a long ways to go for looking good in a Bikini for SQM but we still have time!! Lmao

What’s working is I’ve reduced my sugar intake considerably and lowered my carb intake. For me, I needed to “not fight the hypo”. My quarantine life is work, come home to kids, watch the kids most weekends because other half is working, rinse and repeat. I don’t have a lot of say without resistance in dinner most nights so I know putting myself into keto might not be a real option. I made a plan around it that didn’t impose my diet on my family other than one thing, which is we have to have veggies or salad as part of dinner. And to limit eating out to once or twice a week.

If I’ve had too many carbs in my opinion for dinner breakfast is black coffee and I don’t eat until lunch. If I work out or am really hungry I add a little heavy cream to coffee which satisfies the hunger. Lunch is my healthiest meal of the day. Salad and protein, no exceptions, and making this a hard rule has been the best thing that’s happened to me. And I get some great meals that way. Steak, seared ahi, sashimi, and try to be oil vinegar on the dressing or Caesar. Mixed nuts if I need an afternoon snack although I may put some veggies on the wok and salt them and take them for a snack. Adding the veggies at dinner controlling portions keeps dinner from being a disaster. Dessert only once a week which is a planned outing with kids.

What makes it hard: work is a cesspool of free junk food. Candy, cookies, cake, chips, soda...you name it it’s there and it’s free. High stress environment plus temptation can be tough. Dinners were hard but limiting out to eat, agreeing on veggies/salad, and I now grill twice a week has helped what could otherwise be hard. Late night urges is my daily battle. First three days of less sugar was tough. Headaches and cravings. Hardest part of this whole thing.

Still going steady over here in NJ.

3500cal cut to lose each pound of fat seems so painfully slow but I just keep reminding myself how long it took to put that fat on and how much I want to maintain my lean mass while heading back down.

Like @Frogzilla said...there’s still plenty of time in the competition, and even more in the rest of our lives (hopefully!)...just keep cutting away, don’t give up after that first weigh-in that turns in the wrong direction, and remember to have some fun while you’re at it too or it’ll just pack right back on when you stop focusing yo-yo style!!!

Doing great baby keep up the good work

Bit of a treading water week for me. Work was a bit busier so getting and moving around during the day was harder. Friday hockey starts up again at the end of next week so looking forward to some high intensity cardio.

Is it beer leauge Hockey though, or serious competition? Round these parts it's mostly beer leauge!

No Broccoli in all its forms is not a treat. I grill a cauliflower that I find very rewarding though. This was more weakness. I could call it peer pressure or client pressure but I could have taken stuff and not eaten it.

Once the homemade Armenian food came out I willingly raised the white flag. Plus all the new grape varietals (sno cone and cotton candy) and tree fruit...I didn’t eat anything that I regret eating. Just the quantity.

I'm in Turkey and the Turkish people I work with will leave food on my desk for me. I'll come into work and there's kebap, or breads and pastries, coffee or tea on my desk so I know how you feel. They'll cook chicken tava or bring in leftovers their wives cooked for me to try. I usually skip breakfast (for intermittent fasting) but it's tempting and these guys aren't make it any easier. I still eat what they give me but during my eating window

Skipped a Saturday pokerrrrr2 game last night (it goes til 4 am usually) to get a bike ride in this morning. Up from 15.5 mph last week. Hoping to pull off 18 by the time I’m slim

Today was pretty fast even with a headwind on the return. Only 0.3 left to go to hit that 18 mph goal

@BarrieJ3 i know you mention you been disappointed with Tx food so far. If you see a “rosa’s cafe” try it out...it looks like a fast food drive thru but it’s fantastic and usually really fresh. The healthy option I get is the fiesta salad, either beef or chicken, (not the fajita salad, that’s got a gigantic fried taco shell) with no sour cream. Throw some of the salsa on there are you’re good to go

Thank you for this post. I always thought Rosa's were only in west Texas! My wife is from Odessa and we go every time I visit. Saw that you're in the Dallas area, so I hit up their web site. Unfortunately, none in Houston yet... :(
