PAULSON CHIPS. (1 Viewer)

Right now I think I'd be more interested in custom chips. I was just interested in Paulson availability..

I guess I'm more of a custom chip guy...glad to see the dead around here come to life about a chip..

Me to, I love having a custom chip. I have had paulson and ASM closed casino sets in the past and while I love the feel of clay custom ASM are just to expensive for the amount I want. So I am doing custom ceramics, much more cost effective and better feeling than plastic chips, even the bud jones, matsui ect.

I'll end up getting a small clay set eventually, but the heavy lifting will be done with ceramics.

There is no (legal) way of getting custom Paulson chips currently, and there probably never will be ever again.

If you want to go the 100% custom route, Classic Poker Chips is the place to go if you're looking at clay chips. @BR Pro Poker is also an awesome vendor here that can do 100% custom ceramic chips too. Get samples to see what you like. There are a lot of different molds that CPC makes their chips on. You may like or dislike the feel of a mold that you thought you'd dislike/like. The feel may be totally different than what you thought as well.

Did I mention get samples?

If I were to do this all over again, I would probably focus 100% on leaded THC with shaped inlays. Given the sales that have come up in the past year, this means two things:
  1. It would take me about 6 months to put together my set, one sale at a time
  2. If I waited about 4 months, I would have landed in a massive multi-thousand dollar sale of Outposts and been very happy (and very poor)
But as for Paulsons, even if you are demanding, you'll eventually get what you want. It just takes time.

I gotta ask, which chips made you join a poker chip forum if nothing interests you here? You looking for tourney or cash set??

It's also been widely discussed how we are really just renting paulson chips. The fact is most of the time you can buy paulsons use them until you get tired of them and sell them at cost and buy your next set. Some people have been operating like this for years.

I was on Scott's poker forum when it joined here. I'm a poker table builder. I got out of building years ago, but maybe starting back up..

I've built a lot of man cave items for the restaurant industry over the years.. mainly bars...

Not sure how long ago Scott's forum went down. That's how long it's been. I had calls everyday for selling or trading. As soon as the poker craze was over it kinda fell through the roof...a lot of people hanging onto a era that's gone..Guess that's why I play Fulltilt at dialysis...

I think it quieted down for a few years, but it's also been bouncing back for several years.

That Scott's forum looks like it died some years ago, but there are other enthusiast sites that have replaced it.
It appears you recently found one of them here. ;)

It's never too late to liquidate all your chips and start over. Not being facetious. It's usually stupid sentimentality that gets in the way. And that's life in a nutshell.

Am I the only one that’s confused by this entire thread?
I think it's a thread to display how great ellipses are.....? We're at 48 posts and 26.....err 27 ellipses now.

I'm enjoying this long form of trolling though....A bit different from the upfront and vulgar trolling we've seen......I applaud the long game.... (30 now)

I know many people here are of the mindset of "borrow some chips for a few years, then give them back to the community or the casino". That's not me; but I'm OK with that. I've let go of a few racks here and there that didn't match my mixed collection. The rest of my sets (THC, THC/Leaded/Shaped, RHC, RHC Mixed, etc), all serve purposes since they have different values and numbers of chips.

My Ysabels are a great example. I originally jumped on the $1 b/c finding a RHC blue $1 is UNPOSSIBLE! But, then I had the chance to grab some Ysabel $2s, and wow, what a unique and awesome chip! Suddenly, I had a problem. Do I murder the $2s, or build a smaller cash set around what I had? I went ahead and made a small 100% Ysabel cash set for when I only have 6 or 7 players. When I get 10 players, I'll crack open the THCs, since I have more of them.

So everywhere I look there out of stock. So what's the point of looking for something you can't buy?
I was just interested in Paulson availability..
This seems like a standard question about buying any object. The point is buying something that you want (for whatever reason, usefulness, beauty, status, etc). If you don't value the thing "you can't buy," then it makes no sense.

If you want it, and the original manufacturers don't sell it, then you try to find it in a different marketplace. AKA PCF or eBay.

This is a pretty known concept. Examples include lots of different collectibles: baseball cards, stamps, poker chips, toys, cars).

If that Samurai Palace cash set I pointed out to you in one of your other threads is out of your price range, than the reality is that most Paulsons will also be beyond that.

And a custom CPC set is even further out than a Paulson set.

I remember your posts in the Outlaw Chips thread, so let me see if I can actually help a bit instead of poking fun.

It is hard to simultaneously find something perfect for yourself that is also an obtainable/reasonable price. You seem to prefer a Western theme/motif and like The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. So without a budget, your best bet would be to make something along those lines via a ClassicPokerChips set that fits into that...

For example, I just made this in under a minute with a quick Google search for the image, hence it is ugly but just a quick example. It is an outline of Blondie that would transpose better onto a chip than an actual real picture. I used the horsehead mold because it fits the theme/motif. I used a yellow shade due to "Blondie" and blue inserts because of his eyes. I could likely do a red chip for Angel Eyes and an ugly ass one for Tuco. You would likely want to change the color of the text and add in a denomination.

Unfortunately though, something along these lines would be pricey. That being said, if you take care of your chips, they should last you seemingly your entire life. Making what you like is probably easier in theory than finding what you like, but there are serious costs associated with that.

Good luck!

That's not how it works.....that's not how any of this works....

Nearly everything is available at a given price. Sometimes it takes several purchases to get what one needs or wants.

Good planning is essential, unless you have unlimited funds for an impulse buying spree.

And in case nobody's mentioned it yet, get samples. Best way in the world to save money on the long run.
Get samples!!! Some of the best advice. I spent a fortune on china clays until I fInally realized that Paulson for me was a better fit. There is plenty of choices out there, but samples is the key!!!!

You could make a bad ass Good Bad Ugly set on HHR mold. Level one edge spots, or solids. On that mold solid is $1.29 and level 1 is $1.69 (according to the website). So a set of 400 would run $500 to $700 depending on what you did. I think the cpc colors mesh well with a western theme.

OMG I love that foooooseball table!

Just needs a portable top to make it a convertible poker table. :)

The good bad and ugly chips is a done deal when the time comes. I also have the showtime chips I'm looking at. But.... I have to pick my poisons first and right now it's the table...

I went ahead and made a small 100% Ysabel cash set for when I only have 6 or 7 players.
Pray tell. What breakdown and structure do you use for this particular setup?

Or do high plains drifter, Lago mining Co.

Maybe a tribute set to A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and High Plains Drifter.
