Storage of all your chips (1 Viewer)

I am curious to see how some of you store all your sets. In a glass display case? A simple bookshelf? etc

I am getting rid of my crappy old simple black bookshelf and want to get something new, But I would like some ideas of course. The flimsy wood on each level of my bookcase is bending under the weight of a 1000-1200 or so chips a level not really doing it for me ya know

1000 chip birdcages, 600 chip carriers, and misc. cases. Most can be seen here (although there have been a few changes since it was taken ):

edit - that's a humidor and a cigar box that I use to hold plaques, buttons, cards, etc. coffee can is the bank, obv.

When I get my solid hotstamp HP set I will probably do a couple of 600 chip bird cages. Also whenever I pony up to buy a boatload of $2s for limit I will probably get bird cages for them too.

I have my cases on a parsons table along the wall. (Look between the two players in the center of the picture.) I use the drawer for DBs, seating plaques, etc.

Absolutely. Birdcages would just be redundant and block the view, no? I'm planning on putting 2-3 wooden presentation cases on top too. Hoping to move the first chips into their new home this weekend.

Yep, though I guess it depends on you situation, i.e. if you often need to grab a bird cage and run to a different location, it would make sense to have everything in bird cages. My chips stay at home for the most part, so I like the idea of being able to display the racks like this, almost like having a personal card room "cage". Your setup is very similar to what I have planned once I get around to renovating my basement, I was planning on building shelves with sliding glass covers into my bar. Great way to safely display all your chips and have them ready to go at the same time.

DIf you have a lot of chips to display, baker's racks work very well. Costco has a 6 shelf model that holds 800 lb per shelf for under $100 and sometimes under $80. If you like the chrome look, that is...

Samurai Palace in the Carousal and my customs will go in the birdcage for now. Zombies are in two aluminum cases on the bottom shelf.

I use these for my chip storage. It's cool and impressive and all when I start rolling out drawers full of chips, but it'd be nice if there was a way to showcase them (have them on display full time). I love those of you who have nice chip cabinets with their chips visible. Very cool.

Tree and Gopher win all the things. Tree - those cases are perfect for your chipset, really incredible. Gopher - I love antique furniture and they display case is fantastic.

I have a large, unwieldy black shelving thing made of solid wood that weighs like 400lbs in my basement and keep my chips in a locked dealer's tray and in 600 ct birdcages. I should show them off more like some of the people here have - really nice stuff ITT.

Wow @Jackstraw thats impressive!

I think I might lean towards a sturdy and solid glass type structure next without using the birdcages. Just the racks on top of each other. Really nice look to them like that instead of being behind plexiglass.

this would be the bees knees but I cant pocket the funds for something like this.

Avoid the glass shelves. There's a disaster thread on CT where EmptyPoc's came crashing down under all the weight..... it was not pretty.

If you have a substantial collection and plan on stacking racks more than two high, I also wouldn't go any wider with wood shelves than 24 inches, unless they're reinforced with steel.
