Unwritten Rules of Chipping (1 Viewer)

Wow....let me give you some perspective (IMHO) and this not personal to you (NOFI)
I saw you posting (more then once, and 100% not you alone) that you would LOOOOOOVE to be in the next secret (Paulson) buy.
Can you image the nightmare for those GB runners when participants would have an attitude like you just discribed ?

Shouting out things like above are (or should be) the shortcut to get you off that list faster then the blink of an eye...
Sorry, I wasn’t clear enough, for a group buy or especially an auction, that is a major dick move, if not inexcusable. I guess what I meant more specifically is that, if you say it’s not a done deal, or you’re not sure about if you can buy them, like @Senzrock did in this situation, where he explicitly said, give it to someone else if they want it, then it’s fine. If you say, yes, I will buy these and then back out, that does warrant negative feedback.

If you commit to buy (or to sell) chips, then you are morally obligated to buy (or to sell) the chips.

Doesn't get any simpler than that. Your word means something in this community, and if you break it, expect it to have consequences.

Informing the community of such actions is a public service, imo.
Yup. This place runs on good intentions and our word.

@Tommy , the Administrator
Could we have some black-list of members with whom we won't deal, while still being able to read their crap on the various threads?
Just a no-buy, no-sell ignore list.
Thank you, and sorry for the possible inconvenience. :)

If we only had a system where we could put feedback. And it gave us a rating.... Then we could use that rating... To decide who to buy and sell with....

Like eBay. But with blackjack... And hookers.

Didn’t he say to give it to the next buyer if there was one since he wasn’t sure? Sorry if I’m misremembering the posts before this.

That's what he said an hour before he reneged this morning (my local time ;) ) not on Friday.
And we sealed the deal on the Proteges on Saturday...so this money was going direct to my (then upped) GB commitment...

I see your POV here. I think his intentions were not malicious or to screw someone over. Again, a mistake made and possibly poorly communicated desires in which he wanted to conduct the order of purchasing said chips. I don't agree with publicly posting private conversations without permission of the other person but that's merely my opinion. I certainly can warrant the sellers frustrations, I've been there too. Timing can be tricky sometimes, I've personally worked with this seller with nothing less than flawless results during my transaction. I think it boils down to a lack of or a poor attempt at communicating intentions. Again, just an opinion, I wasn't involved in the conversation in anyway.

Consequences, sure. Negative feed back is fine. Public bashing is poor taste and doesn't resolve anything imo. Again, I strongly believe this is something that moderators can set up a resource for, the person getting "shafted" can file a complaint, if the mods see it as an offense it can be posted into a log we can access publicly. No thread bashing needed. You can even put a ranking system so if theres multiple offenses it will show

CAN WE HAVE A BUTTON THAT SAYS "BEEN SHAFTED?"

Best Dealer Button in the (culturally) Christian World would be "FORGIVE yet REMEMBER" :)

For these posts, original creators should always reserve the first comment to list the Unwritten Rules or whatever the topic is. I wish I had done this for a couple of mine.

I try and keep my too far off topic posts to a limit (I may be joking, but a lot of truth is said in jest), but once we get everyone going, eventually it's a bit difficult to quickly surmise 5 pages.

Yes, of course. For sure. You didn't say that, obviously knowing that team BaNANAS would now flood this place with half naked Barrie chips and pictures.

Not at all. You definitely don't want half naked pictures of us mopes.....

Jokes appart, do forgive those who ask for forgiveness (if they do).
A beautiful feature of the modern Greek language is that we mention the deceased as the "forgiven".
In everyday talk, in order to say "my late mother" you say "my forgiven mother".

This is awfully off-topic, but so is the pathetic crap posted here, in general.

Thanks at whatever mod found the need to alter my posts and not PM me about it.
When you can not post proof...it's always word vs word...

I invited him to post my PM's too...as long nothing is fotoshopped I stand behind my words..PM and/or public, I guess not all can say the same here.

Not part of the argument, but just for my clarification I have a general question that seems related enough. I have seen a lot of people post dibs in a thread and then retract it shortly thereafter. Before I knew about calling "backup" it caused me to miss out on some chips I really wanted, but people never seem bothered by the practice. How is that generally seen?

That's going to just depend from person to person. Noone can speak on this aspect for everyone. It's similar to the idea of dibbing or saying I'll take it through PMs. Some people dont mind that, some people do. Often you'll see a sale say, post dibs publicly then PM.

Edit: Ive always seen dibs as I'll take it. I've written dibs when I didnt want to spend time writing anything more and possibly losing it. I've also "dibbed" for someone else, but when I do that I'm simply saying mine. The person I dibbed for can purchase it, and if not I'll pay and take it thanks.
