@Poker Zombie - those blurples and pinks are what dragged me into the Royals. I build my set around them. Then, when they started arriving and people found some of the dirty stack issues, it broke my heart. Regardless, I still play with them as 25c/50c (don't judge me for having 2 fracs. I like rainbows!) And we haven't had a single miscount.
With that said, I'm sad that it could one day happen. Perhaps as inflation takes over, I'll remove the pink 25c chip and relabel it...

thanks @BearMetal and @Poker Zombie ... its not TERRIBLE, but its something to consider. very odd because even if you purchase the set as is, 25k and 100k are right next to each other. Then again the $1 as is looks awful imo.
I wasn't a big fan of the stock $1's either. However, in person, after cleaning/oiling, they're quite nice!

I haven't yet gotten mine into play (stupid Covid), so I am still on the fence (thus only pointing out "possible" issues).
That said, not noticing a dirty stack could be an issue that goes unnoticed during play. If someone's all-in was called for 25¢ more, nobody would notice. When stacking and racking a dirty chip would be quickly removed and be counted correctly.
The set as-is was group designed. The similarity wasn't noticed until chips were delivered. It might not be drastic, but if someone is considering a custom relabel, I would be derelict if I didn't mention the similarity.

OK, haters are going to hate, but I like the 2nd one I think that's my fav! I'd be OK if you'd want to swap the red/yellow chips in that lineup. Most people hate a non-red $5... and I think that yellow is a super awesome frac too...

if didnt mention yet, its for a 25c/50c game. so the most common chips are 25c/1/5, with the occasional 20. so far the games havent needed a 100, rare for even 20's. So i'm just keeping that in mind too. I also really like how the yellow chip looks, so if i can use it in a 25c/1/5 line-up thats great.
The yellow chip has grown on me. At first, it was down on my list of preference. But after I oiled them, the yellow chip is near the top of my list. I would have a hard time actually making a list of preference, if I'm being honest.
I'm in the same boat. I put so much effort into building this stinking chip set, and the only time they have hit a table is when I get bored and start stacking them.

I like the way they look... wish I knew back then what I do now, so maybe I'd have my yellows in play more. But you must clean and oil the royals. I got tennis elbow and suffered for months, but look at that yellow - totally worth it.

So to you guys that have compression oiled your Royals, how are they holding up? I recently had to redo my dark blues, reds, greens, and yellows because the outter edges were chalky (like where the crown molds are). Admittedly, the first time I oiled them (a couple months ago) I didn't let them sit and "soak up" oil for days and days, but rather maybe over night, then wiped the excess of the center and racked 'em. This time however, I only did a couple barrels at a time, used probably more oil than those here have suggested, and let them sit for at least 24 hours on a cooling rack from the kitchen. I'd flip them after 12 hours and I'd notice a few little "pools" of oil here and there, but let them sit on the rack (oil pools side up) and then they would dry/absorb/evaporate. I'm hoping this time they hold up.
Just thought I would check in with others that compression oiled their chips and how they're holding up over time.
