Poker Zombie
Royal Flush
Most of you have probably seen the Zombie In Flight Poker Table. We've used in on a number of flights now, and it has survived turbulence, locations for drinks, a tournament timer, and snacks, and even the dreaded "what if the guy in the window seat has to pee" scenarios. It handled each situation with flawless ease. Airport security loves it. Flight attendants have given us extra kudos in the form of free drinks (the table has completely paid for itself in free drinks). Custom table, custom chips from my existing ceramic zombie chipset.
Then the dreaded happened. I was playing with the chips during a game, and I dropped one. It disappeared into the seat, presumably to the floor where it would roll into the restroom - or worse - into someones bag under the seat. What could I do? I shook it off as another bad beat dealt by gravity, and we continued. Later, when window seat guy went to the restroom, I looked in my seat cushion, which is also a floatation device. It had caught my nearly irreplaceable chip.
So the first thing I considered after the dilemma, was what to do for future flights?
Yeah, that's the one.
So I dug deep into the chip vault. Wayyy back, behind the old used decks. On the very bottom, under the dice chips that can be used for shims. There they were, the chips that came with a chip rack that I bought off of LetGo in 2016.
The rack and chips cost me $20, but really - it was $20 for the rack. Chips were free. Well, they were free... but the labels pop off, so it's time for a new label...
I have 3 ideas, but I'm not Johnny5. I work much slower. MUCH slower. And the first idea was already splitting in 3 directions, so I decided to go to the community for help.
First, Let me say these are going to be both Cash and Tournament. I know the risks, but there are 21 chips per player. I think I can track that many chips between the tournament and the cash game. All of Idea #1s are based loosely off another casino...

- Do I go to my Milanos, which are cheaply replaceable? They're a travel set afterall, but non-Zombies on a custom Zombie table feels... it feels like the whole thing stopped short.
- Do I continue using the custom ceramics? They are pretty cheap, but I bought them before I learned things like "buy more than you need, in case you lose one". Replacing 1 would probably mean replacing 300, and it likely wouldn't be exactly the same because the originals were bought through a 3rd party that no longer exists.
- Do I make new custom chips?
Yeah, that's the one.
