I'm sorta the regular fill in for a weekly 1/2 game. 8 seats.
Typical night, about $3500 winds up on the table (most buy in for $120).

Friendly, loose game. I'm up about 66% of the nights and have been up nicely the last 4 weeks (up $2k).

What are your thoughts on targeting a losing evening of about $300 to avoid losing my invite?

As someone who has been disinvited from games for winning too much it is something I have considered but have never done. I would not go for the max value in spots to seem more like “one of the guys”. But at the end of the day I have my own game and can have it filled up with in a few hours so if some other game doesn’t want me I’ll take as much as I can while I can.

Let's use other words here - - - come to the game and plan on having fun. You know, play any-two-cards sometimes. Maybe play the first streets dark. Offer up prop bets. Be the joker.

Also it never is wrong for the winner to bring goodies. Nice booze, order pizza for the table, toss in some scratchers as pot sweeteners. Also, be sure to tip the host.

You still might win, but it will be fun and memorable. Don't be a chip dumper, be that crazy man who might do almost anything.

I wouldn’t dump chips on purpose. That just seems a bit too far the opposite direction. And frankly, a bit condescending to the other players.

So what if they are fishy? Open up your ranges and play a bit more loose. Gambol it up a bit and enjoy the night instead of going for max value.

And perhaps use some of your winnings to treat the group to food, beer, etc.

Fantastic advice

Years ago a friend got into a $5/10 “lawyers” game in one the office’s downtown. He cleaned up from the first night. They were playing on a shitty folding table so he bought a nice table and donated it to the game. It bought him close to a year before he was booted lol.

Ultimately I don't have an answer for you. I have never experienced "not being invited back" because of my skill set. I've been banned from games for reasons unknown to me, but that is a story for another day.

How can it be a story for another day when it was for reasons unknown?

Another day comes...

@detroitdad "I was uninvited from a game...don't know why" - posts pics of Sunsets

When I walk into a game I stare right in the eyes of the biggest stack seated, pull out a $100 bill, light it on fire and say, "That was your money I just burned." Then they're too scared to ban me and we all have a lovely evening.

Do tell...

Did someone say chocolate cake???

Mrs. Strange takes good care of the poker players around here

By the way, that cake was so good I remember it like yesterday even though it was two years ago. Butter cream chocolate icing. OMG I so want a slice.

But yeah, for OP, bringing a donation of donuts or ordering pizza for the players, bringing a nice bottle of booze for the host and a case of beer for everyone else gets you on the nice list for a decent while.

The only time players get disinvited for winning is when the game is very private game. Old friends that have been playing together forever, or a work game. These games are about the friends hanging out more than the poker. A true poker game isn’t going to boot a player for winning. Being rude, talking politics, hit and run, trash talking the players as you are stack big their chips, those things will get you off the invite list in a poker game.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but you've heard of people getting disinvited for stacking their chips a certain way? I hate when players stack in stacks of ten too, but come on! I don't kick them out for it lol :p

I would think you'd be trying to woo the host. If (s)he's doing all the work, pulling together the people, providing the space, and isn't raking the game, and you are coming and profiting off his hard work, you should be tipping him pretty dang good, be it cash or food or specialty drinks - whatever he fancies.

Was thinking about buying a new chips for the game.

I'd go up to $500 for 1000 but need to look and FEEL like real casino chips.
That could come across as arrogant - i.e. implying the equipment they currently use is substandard. I'd be careful with that.

Now stuff like consumables and wear items (like decks of cards) are far more reasonable to offer to bring and would probably be welcomed. But you should ask the host first.

As to 'chip dumping'...

It sounds as if you're crushing a low stakes game consistently. This may be because you have a skill advantage over the other regs, but you're also probably just running really good lately. A 4-session winning streak is hardly an indicator that you're crushing the table into oblivion. Unless you've receive negative feedback that you may be wearing out your welcome, I wouldn't sweat it. Like others have said, just make an effort to be good for the group and contribute to a positive experience for others.

I'm with Mike on this. Bringing drinks/food etc for folks and saying "Hey, I've been on a heater last few games, figured my turn to buy".... and that invite is a good as gold. Had a similar situation in the game I hosted, and guys that bring food and bevs are seen thru my eyes as the best! Don't care how often they take my money!

I don’t like to dump at anyone’s house fishy game or not. Luckily I go every morning like clock work and rarely have to worry about that. ;)
I used to work with guys that would hold it all weekend just so they could do it on company time on Monday. Unions, what can I say
