That was my initial impression. Desert Palms or Dunes
It's not traditional but that makes them unique. That being said, I really don't like brown chips...especially a 100 chip.I actually don't mind / like some of the color combos of this Candy Land Fun set.. though a better house mold (better font and maybe just "WSOP" with denoms for each chip in the mold) and un-fuglying the inlays would do wonders.

Conspiracy theory time: What if the GPI had to flip the bill for the replacement chips knowing that the Star chips they sold "compromised the integrity" of the WSOP chips?
I’m willing to put money on the fact that they won’t show up. Anybody wanna lay some odds? The whole conspiracy theory thing goes to pot if we see those chips in a later event
Depends. How many years?I’m willing to put money on the fact that they won’t show up. Anybody wanna lay some odds?
Oooh, interesting, hadn’t realized sets had ever gotten pulled only to later be put back into play.Depends. How many years?
More than one WSOP set currently in use that was pulled at one time, only to be returned to play years later. As far as anybody knows, those were because they had new chips made. When they were replaced, everybody thought it was forever. Turns out not to be the case.
However, those sets may have been pulled due to compromise or counterfeits which WSOP kept private at the time. Incidentally, it occurred about the same time that ceramic clones of their Bud Jones chips started getting popular. Now there's a conspiracy theory for ya.![]()
Those have some ... poop?
I've been trying to monitor it my bestI'd only take that bet if it included all sets. If more than one set is 'retired' this year, I win. If only the 818 set doesn't show up, you win.
Gonna be hard to monitor, however, given the total number of events (and sets).
I like the colors of the 1k and 5k in stacks. That 25k is godawful thoughFunky chips in the high roller

That's one of the stories/rumors going around right now that Travis (RainmanTrail) has shared. He says he spoke with some one in the gaming industry who knew a GPI rep that claimed they had to replace the WSOP secondary chips for free as a direct result of the Star tributes.
I don't have any reason not to believe him.
Could they rightfully send some kinda of cease and desist notice to Tommy and F us all or is that just incredibly unlikely?
Gotcha. GPI flipping the bill is likely why they re-used the inlay from the prev chips, (as a cost cutting measure) Spose now we know that we've likely pissed of GPI more than Caesars. Could they rightfully send some kinda of cease and desist notice to Tommy and F us all or is that just incredibly unlikely?
...or Caesars just didn't spring for a graphic artist to redo the label.
...or Caesars just placed the order and said "use our art on file".
...or Caesars asked for new chips and GPI just made them.
After reading through the Nevada Gaming Commission's regulations regarding chips/tokens and seeing the timeline of the Star chip "drama" and subsequent notification(s) of Caesars/WSOP/media/etc., I think it's more plausible that GPI used the old inlays because they had already been approved for use in previous chip iterations and would (hopefully, from a production side) not require additional revisions.
According to the NGC regulations, GPI would have needed to provide them with a sample of the chips before they could be approved for use... looking logically at this, those chips would have required:
