Except for the T25k, the chips colors (and even the side paint colors) are pretty cool. It's the inlay colors that make most of 'em look fugly.

So this is how a Paulson rush job is looking....

They did get the inlays centered so that is 1 point...besides that i'm pulling a blank.

- base colors suck
- all side paint suck
- house mold sucks
- inlays color matching sucks

Tell us how you really feel, man! The inlays being circles not ovals counts for something, maybe?

Did anyone catch the odd conversation about chips during the SHRB? Some one was making a fancy chip-stack at some point, and then Ali Nejad started talking about it. They had a guest player in the booth, and they asked him if he does any elaborate chip stacking at the table. After some brief discussion, Ali then asked him, "What about the side paint? Do you like to line up those little areas of side paint when you make your stacks?"

WTF?

The player said he "never pays much attention to the side paint areas" when he's stacking his chips at the table. Side paint areas? Really? : I'd love to find that part of the coverage and clip it out and post it. It was pretty damn funny (to chippers at least).

I caught that and was shaking my head too. Side paint. lol

So knowing the main chips are still in play, I'm pretty confident that the WSOP secondaries were replaced specifically because of the Star chips. If they were 'just getting new chips', they'd have replaced their primary set.

Not necessarily. The sets are different sizes, and contain different denominations. The new set clearly wasn't intended to replace the ME chips, based on denominations alone.

I just realized that by implementing the new house mold, along with the old inlays, there is no hat-and-cane mark/logo on these chips anywhere.

Doesn't that violate the NGCB's rules?

(c) The manufacturer’s name or a distinctive logo or other mark identifying the manufacturer must be inscribed on at least one side of each chip and token;

Don’t be silly. I had a set of these for my first set. They are injection molded plastic for sure.

As has already been mentioned, the NGCB regs definitely do not require discontinued tourney chips to be destroyed...

Section 12.070 relates to the disposal of discontinued chips.

@TheChipRoom needs to get on this.

He's tried many times to get the NGC to approve the sale of obsolete tourney (and roulette) chips from Nevada casinos, often accompanied with the casino's attorneys' desperate pleas for the financial help it would provide with creditors.... and has always been turned down. They're idiots, but they are damn consistent about it.

That lime green inlay makes me want to puke every time I see it on that (moss?) green chip -- it really takes a decent color/spot combo (almost Highway 9-like) and makes it hideous. And the 1k and 5k chips remind me of those ugly home-market Classics with their awful non-matching color inlays.

Surprisingly, the T500 and T100 inlays actually look pretty good. All-gray inlays (not white, not black) would have been a decent way to go, if not doing actual color-matching.

The Riviera roulette chips were auctioned off after it closed, and one of the CCA members claims that many of the recently closed Pioneer Laughlin chips (not necessarily value chips...I'm still trying to get details on exactly what was given away) were given away as door/raffle prizes. Maybe they're loosening up a bit?

A good chunk of the used roulettes I got off of eBay a couple of months ago were in chip boxes neatly hand labelled with "Pioneer" and the chip colour.

Those new WSOP chips aren't so bad if you ignore the inlays. Total non-sequiturs, they don't seem to have anything to do with the base colors of the chips, and almost go out of their way to clash.

IMO they just need to be relabeled. Anyone know a guy?

I like these chips ...but house mold chips have grown on me the past year. I'd pay a couple bucks per chip for these new from GPI to replace my new tourney chips at 14c each (which replaced my Aztars .... which are still for sale now as a best offer if someone wants some by the barrel or rack <- shameless plug) (y) :thumbsup:

Yes I actually have 100 roulette riviera I had purchased on e-bay.

I actually don't mind / like some of the color combos of this Candy Land Fun set.. though a better house mold (better font and maybe just "WSOP" with denoms for each chip in the mold) and un-fuglying the inlays would do wonders.
