I just now got to this episode, but one thing that it got me thinking about is the implications a player like WK has on the broadcast edit. Admittedly, I have not watched a full WSOP main event broadcast on ESPN in several years, but it felt like the producers were eating WK up. Obviously he's a gold mine for this years broadcast. He's a polarizing figure that keeps people tuning in each week to see if he busted. I just don't want every years broadcast out looking for the the biggest villain, and then having reality producers coach one up when a natural doesn't materialize.

Perhaps but I'm not one of those viewers. I don't watch WSOP unless something interesting is linked here. Watching guys go into the tank on a two card game is like watching paint dry. I have better things to do.

Just reading the 2+2 thread on this (the posts about the Benger hand start at page 34) and holy shit according to this post the AA v. KK hand took OVER 18 MINUTES in real time.

I would probably have ended up blathering like a moron too if I'd sat there for 18 fucking minutes enduring Kassouf's retarded "speech play." Benger is less douchy than I thought given that background and Kassouf remains king of the softbrains. I hope he falls down an elevator shaft.

18 minutes? No way I could take it. I would have received penalties never before issued for foul language, etc... maybe a bitch slap too.

the AA v. KK hand took OVER 18 MINUTES in real time.
Sooo...17 min. pre-flop bullshit just to ultimately get it all-in which was a very real possibility (likelihood?) the entire time, then just a minute or two of action.

(As an aside, that sounds a bit like my dating life in high school.)

Seven. Teen. Minutes. One hand. AA v KK.

That partly illustrates why tourneys are not my preferred mode of play. Make your bets, deal the thing, scoop the pot, and move on. Good lawd...18+ minutes.

What if you were one of the players NOT involved in that hand? You just had 18+ minutes of play eaten by that bullshit.

I agree, with the stipulation that he would eliminate slow play.

And that's his problem... he would sit there and talk sh*t for 4 minutes while trying to decide whether or not he should fold 9-3off. Hell, it took 5m30sec minutes for him to shove KK-all-in? Seriously?!?!? I don't care if the levels are 2 hours... that's straight up obnoxious for a $10,000 buyin tournament.

WK is a disaster for any table he sits and, and he has no respect for the game. I'm so glad he did NOT make the final table.

This changes things. Though you deserve what happens to you for not calling the clock at some point.

My biggest issue with this is that WK may just be the straw that breaks the camel's back as it relates to WSOP ME rules.

There has been some debate (on this forum, and others) about whether or not a clock should be automatically instituted for every hand in the ME. To be totally honest, I don't think there should be a clock at this event. For $10k you are buying 2-hour levels and the time/respect to play the game at your pace.

That said, WK has shown you can abuse the generous level structure by taking b*llshit antics to an extreme. I don't think that's fair, and it just may result in fudging up the WSOP rules into the future. And that's what worries me the most about WK's antics.

I would not be surprised if we see new time rules next year as a result of his stupid crap.

Even without new rules, TDA does have Rule #1 for the TD to act on such issues:
1: Floor Decisions
The best interest of the game and fairness are top priorities in decision-making. Unusual circumstances occasionally dictate that decisions in the interest of fairness take priority over technical rules. Floor decisions are final.

If it was 18 minutes, the other players need a slap. Big decision or not, he gets the clock after 3 minutes.

I can't believe these guys waited that long to call the clock on him.

18 minutes cumulative for the whole hand. There was a raise, three bet, and four bet before Kassouf's decision. Still an insane amount of time, but it's not like the players waited while Kassouf blathered on for fifteen minutes non-stop before the clock was called.

With a player like that, you just tell him, sorry but I'm calling the clock on you as soon as allowed every decision. Enough is enough. And then you do it. And do it. And do it. And do it. And do it.

Thinking that long with KK, I mean, c'mon man! How many times have the best players in the world been able to get away from KK pre-flop? Once in their career? Maybe?

Maybe I'm old school but I'm not a fan of all the talk at the tables. Let the play and the cards talk. But to each their own.

Light banter only.

Who's gonna win ?
What's the morning line ? Can we get 9 guys for $111 each $1000 winner take all blind draw ?

Okay, unrelated to the action point of this thread, I know, but I loved these tweets by stealthmunk:

The hand referenced:

Honestly I think he actually respects the play even if he thinks it's crazy nitty.

I respect it. It's basically for Obst's tournament, Nguyen is obv value betting, and his value range in this spot is (or should be) comprised almost entirely of larger flushes and boats. How he got there with them is irrelevant at that point - A5 is a silly unlikely hand for him to have there.

Obst had to be pretty sure he had the best hand. But he decided he'd rather make the final table. Tough to argue with that.

Combination of "mid" flush, paired board and final table within reach probably makes that decision different than even the day before...

just finished episode 13...to answer the OP question is: d) none of the above....just a heated moment, but great entertainment for the most part

tv edits with an acceptable result, there was no other entertainment except Kassouf who i started to hate and even cringe while watching at times, then you realize his game plan

which was he successful at putting everyone at any table on tilt, plus most of the tourney officials and maybe 90% of the viewers....i applaud his results.

have not watched the rest but i would bet ESPN is the loser here now that Kassouf is gone, no class douche nozzle Niwinski should be kicked in the nuts by Chuck Norris for the

obvious snub but he is a stupid kid than needs to learn a few things, that being the first lesson.

but in real time if i had to sit there and put up with Kassouf, i would be tempted hire the top 3 MMA fighters to beat him senseless during a break...

edit: watched last episode, sort of refreshing of not all WK but then sort of blah at the same time

Kassouf figured that he was trying to goad him into calling, which meant he was secretly weak
