I’m gonna be honest…I’m a bit of a fraud. I think I’m as much a Padres fan as I am a Cubs fan. I’m not a huge fan of the current ownership and I grew to really like the Padres and their owner (RIP) when I was stationed in San Diego.

I’m not often emotionally affected by celebrity deaths, but this one got me. He was my boyhood sports hero.
Sad day, he was a class act.
For a decade he was the starting 2nd Baseman in the All-Star game. You didn't even need to look, you just knew he'd be chosen. Traded in 1982 with Larry Bowa from the Phillies to the Cubs for Ivan DeJesus is still the worst trade in the history of baseball. It's a shame he never made it to a World Series but he joins Ernie Banks, Fergie Jenkins, Andre Dawson & Billie Williams as other Cubs Hall Of Famers that never got there.
I recently discovered Front Row Amy while watching the Dodgers @ Brewers. Wow! Not sure how I've missed her for so many years. I'm going to watch more Brewers home games.
This scandal is crazy. There's got to be some sort of Dominican Mafia shit going on.
Clase, a three-time All-Star, becomes the second Guardians pitcher to be placed on leave in connection with a sports gambling probe. Luis Ortiz also is on non-disciplinary leave through Aug. 31. It was unclear if the cases were related in any way.

Love baseball, probably my favorite sport, brings back memories of hanging out with dad, learning how to score the game. Favorite memory of all time, my dad was broadcasting the minor league team in Amarillo, and on Father's Day, dad, my brother and I did the broadcast together. Of all the games I broadcast with dad, across all the sports, this one meant the most. To me baseball is a very cerebral game, but can also just be a fun sport to socialize at.
As to the swingoff in the All-Star game, I missed seeing it, but it sounds like a fun ending. The best thing they did was remove the All-Star game as the determining factor for World Series home-field advantage, and make the All-Star game what it should be, a night for the players to relax and have fun, and showcase some of the best players in the league.
