Why has faded spade always felt like a con? Maybe I just hate marketing. (2 Viewers)

So I just got a response from Faded Spade regarding that 4 of hearts and in other words basically said im SOL and that I can buy the 3.0s with a 15% Discount.
Buy some Fournier's, profit.

While I like the 3.0s, nobody I play with really seems to, so I don't think I'll be buying these anymore unless future versions are a thinner. They love the artwork and pip size, as do I, but the thickness and slipperiness is too much for them. From all accounts their customer service seems like shit as well, for what that's worth.

I don’t think Kem, Bicycle, copaq, fournier, Modiano , or any other major brand would help in any way either if one of their cards broke.

As far as I know FS is "just a brand". They don't own factory or patented formula for stock or printing technology... They have restricted trademark and cards design, which is pretty cool. Exceptionally they are one of two known to me brands to use RDFI tech. That was propobly a must to go on with their marketing strategy of "streaming".
If you look from the user perspective they do what Desjgn does but on the bigger scale.
Nothing wrong with people trying to score some cash.

Personally never used them but grafics are very appealing....

Not so long ago few players in Poland try to do something similar but the prodnuct was less than impressive. For some reason they decided to make poker size cards in 4 color variety... That is less than popular combination.

I've had a good experience witg Kem. I actually had a 9 of spades Kem arrow bridge split down the middle and they sent me 2 new decks in the mail.

I started with 3.0 and think they’re decent. I have the bridge size and poker, the bridge feel good to me but the poker add just enough extra resistance to be slightly annoying. My players have tried the poker sized cards and didn’t care for them, running the bridge sized next.

I don’t watch poker and didn’t know they marketed hard, I seen them on a YouTube channel and liked the design.

Got em!

Y'all were right. Beautiful cards that feel sturdy and I love the art, but 2.0s are comically stiff. Bridge sized on both setups where I usually like poker size but these seem fine. Gonna have a few setups on the table before poker starts on Friday as

1. A gross display of wealth and power to influence their game decisions, but

2. See which they'll play with. Want them to compare the decks/sizes.

Similar experience as others, Faded Spade 2.0 split while shuffling. These were barely used, played with them maybe two or three times before this. Customer support offered a slight discount on their 3.0 cards but wouldn’t replace the individual card like Copag will. There are better card options out there — I won’t buy Faded Spade again.

I might try a spray adhesive to reattach since it’s a goner anyway.

I think that's pretty crappy business to not replace obviously defective cards. I think it just points to the fact that the home market is just an extra for them. Their main business is casinos and cardrooms. Even though replacing a card only costs them a couple of dollars, they simply don't care about the home business.

I work in a poker room that uses Faded Spades, and I've never had any sort of issues involving the cards splitting or anything like that. I've also gotten to the point where I feel like any other cards I use feel flimsy by comparison. So I'd say I like them, but maybe in a Stockholm syndrome kind of way. Just my $.02

Played with them last night for the first time, players loved the stiffness and the art! Hoping to not have any of the unfortunate splitting, happy so far.

Has anyone been able to purchase any faded spade with small pip size? I used them at Resorts world in the summer now I see Aria is using them also.

Wasn’t about to spend money on them personally due to all the issue being bandied about.

Asked for a set up for Christmas, tried them out on Friday night with @BarrieJ3 and @RocAFella1

They worked fine, which is all you can really ask for from playing cards IMO. Didn’t hate them but they wouldn’t be the first cards I’d reach for.

Still wouldn’t spend my own money for them.

Oh shit, a @RichMahogany sighting!

I started using Faded Spade 3.0 cards a few months ago in the games I host (bridge size). Overall I really like them, as do my players. No major issues thus far.

No automatic shuffler. People actually keep telling me these are easier to shuffle than before.

For years I used poker size Copags, so I think some of the “new hotness” feel might just be from switching to bridge size cards. People do comment that cards don’t slide off the deck as much anymore though.

I really like the design and pseudo-jumbo size the Faded Spades offer, as well as the bright white stock. The one thing that does bug me is when trying to collect cards after a hand is over they’re just thick enough that the cards tend to get stuck side to side instead of easily sliding on top of each other. Oh, and also they seem to stay bent easier than my Cooags did (I think mainly due to peoples poor shuffling technique of bending the entire cards up).

I'll throw my hat in the ring. I bought 4 decks in April 2022 for our home game, which runs once a month at my place, where these cards are used. So probably 30-35 hours of play time total. I had one card delaminate in December, and tossed that deck, thinking it was just bad luck and wouldn't happen again. The other night, a card from a different deck split apart, so we tossed that deck, too.

I got in touch with Faded Spade to try and get a replacement deck, and their response was that they could offer me a discount on the 3.0 deck (use code POKER, but I recommend you buy literally any other brand at this point), or that they could replace the single card that delaminated. I explained that the deck was literally in the trash and was no longer usable. They said all they could do was replace the one card, and directed me to their replacement policy on their website (which I totally read when I bought the decks, /s). Never buying from Faded Spade again, and I recommend you do the same.

The cards splitting seems to be a huge issue. I had one that split after very little play, and I know many others have had the same problem.

I hate it because I love the cards, and they are my group’s favorite go-to. If their customer service was better, I could stomach it, but I have had less than stellar luck with them.

This seems to be an issue with the 2.0 iteration only, which is a shame, because I thought that was their best offering. V2>>>>>>V3>>>V1 for me. The V1's are to this day some of the worst cards I've ever owned.

You'd think as a newcomer to the market they'd try to make it right when there's an issue. Yet another company that just cares about their casino base. Eff them.

Buy desjgn, Dal Negro, Fournier, or even Copag that'll stand behind their product.

or that they could replace the single card that delaminated.
Interesting, because I specifically asked them for this and was told no, because the 2.0 cards had been discontinued. Replacing the individual card would have actually gone a long way to smooth things over with me.

They did say they could only replace a single card if they still had one in stock.

I reached out to Faded Spade today because I accidentally damaged my 5 of diamonds on the black back V3. FS had me confirm order and send a picture of the card. They are mailing out a new 5 of diamonds in 3-5 days. Seemed simple enough to get a FS replacement.
