Reading @pokepiper's thread on JJ raises the question: which of the middling hands would you rather play, 77 or JJ? Both have merits for raising preflop but don't play well post flop and are just dominated by stronger hands.

I mean, 77 is very much a set mining hand at a 9 way table for cash. But realistically, it's set mine or try to get to showdown. And maybe try to deny equity on some weird boards that most likely don't connect with your opponents.

Tournaments it's easier to play shallow obviously.

JJ is just dangerous because there's a lot of over cards still so it's very easy to feel like you've flopped dead. Or get overly confident with an overpair. And harder to lay down on a bad board. Still taking JJ 100% of the time.

JJ can win unimproved more often than 77. (But JJ does not win unimproved nearly as often as AA or KK, which is why the frustration with JJ.)

So 77 may be "easier to play" because it's a simple fit or fold equation, JJ has more upside. If you find you are having trouble with JJ, time to learn more about how to play postflop.
