What do you mean by a few different style inlays?
Different shapes. All of yours are "hub"
From a gear post.

Example of use Grand Casino hybrid Tina or Tangiers hybrid Tina:

@templetonjohn72 and if you want a read about the difficulty of matching shaped 'surround' colors to the chip color you and can spend a couple of days here. That's why I said above to consider going with round labels if you don't want to iterate again and again to get them to match.

.25 hub
1 star
5 gear
25 Green Apple should fit and works!
100 scallop

I will just note, because I'm grateful that @allforcharity previously advised me to change shaped inlays on a design of mine, that there are "standard" inlay shapes. I was stubborn but listened in the end and glad I did (I listened for the most part - see Tangiers). That said, it's your custom design and do what you want!

$5 = hub
$25 = scallop
$100 = cog
$500 = hexagon

I had no idea. I do love a standard...

What im more worried about is mismatched surround colors. Look around at some results. Look at tangiers quest thread.

If you aren't getting samples and color wheels and iterating (also not fool proof bc Tina can change label makers or get a new printer or new inks or not calibrate regularly) then please reconsider round inlays with white or black or an obviously complimentary ground.

If you want a shaped inlay badly get 25 x $500 chips and take a shot. If you hate it you wasted $12. Nbd.

$92, still need to pay label fee. I agree though, for some reason was thinking these were cards mold and not an inlay.

Shaped inlays are a bad idea for Tinas generally.. I think I sunk ~$500-$1k just in color matching iterations and color samples to get as good as I could get on Tangiers, and still expect them to not be perfect because of printer variation.

But if happy with them not being perfect or potentially largely off, shaped are great.. just depends on expectations.

…and an $80 label fee…
Oh it's not just a label in the label set? I know to reprint would be $80 label fee but he wasn't ordering $500s. So I viewed this as only $12. Am I wrong?

@templetonjohn72 : I can name 5 designers on this forum. 3 are here encouraging you to not do shaped inlays. (I'm throwing okku in that group bc he liked crattys post).

If you find white boring you can move to something else.

Here's a pic and design (I think) from @Colquhoun that is far from a boring solid.

In other news I've never seen that reload and bounty. Really cool stuff imo.

Heres an idea. Put that Tucan in the forest. If you want a black ring you can mimic the view an ornithologist has through a spotting scope or binoculars.

Or mimic the view through a digital camera ISO $100 (as denom)

In either case were spying this magical world where birds play cards.

Then have each inspo bird in the forest.

I know its just pie in the sky ideas that take alot of work but it's an idea!

This is the current iteration as of now.

Really like how this lineup is developing.

Two notes from my end:

1) the off-center denominations tilts me a bit. I’d prefer to have all the denominations centered underneath the bird.
2) I find the color-matching on the frac and $25 difficult to read (they blend into the main chip color a bit too much for me). The chips and inlays are already very colorful. Have you considered going with just one color for all the denominations (black or red for example)?

I am a huge fan of your Toucan label and it is a great idea using bird colors for base chips. Great theme. It bugs me a little with the very off-center denoms. I quickly pushed stuff around in photoshop and colored the tips of the left wing so the wings match in color. This is my take - use it or throw it away :)

This looks a lot more like he’s landing on the denomination instead of delivering it. Would you consider him sitting on a branch?

Lol I know, it goes like “add a branch” then it’s “make the tree bigger” then it’s “the bird gets in the way of the tree”, lol it never ends

red, centred denoms ftw.

I guess it looks like he's landing on the denom - he's definitely not delivering it. He could also be taking a dump while sitting on the denom - lifting his body up a bit with the help of his wings, for a sweet release. You never know.

Wouldn’t be the first time someone has gone with a pooping tropical bird-themed poker chip set here. :ROFLMAO:

For legibility, I’d prefer more space between the bird and denom over trying to get tricky like he’s standing in it.

Also, abandoning the shaped inlay and going for round means you could enlarge the art quite a bit within the apace…definitely a good thing.

I vote curl the toes over denom. Bird sitting on denom. Brings denom into the scene instead of something pasted in with padded space. (But @Colquhoun is a pro so you should probably listen to him)

I like this because the random spade is in the birds mouth instead of floating beneath his beak.

Absolutely not. Nothing standard about goofy 4-color decks, get outta here.

I'm NOT saying to use 4 color suits. But if you did you'd have a reason for the assignment based on chip color. Another detail for the story...

PS. I love 4 color live decks but rarely can use without rampant objection. There's 1 vip whale with bad vision (has to sit 4 or 5 seat). When he's in the game its allowed.

@templetonjohn72 A recent GB Web Mold delivery that probably attempted matching color inlays:
https://www.pokerchipforum.com/thre...b-mold-greek-mold-02-2025.127750/post-2698544

The frac and black look great. And the set is nice - not trying to say OP shouldn't be happy with his purchase.

...but are the inlays generally a color match? No.

A round inlay off color doesn't look bad. It looks more intentional. The attempted color match portion around a shaped inlay looks worse because it's more clearly unintentional.

Been super busy recently. Finally back to working on this design, I have communicated with gear labels to help get the color matching done. Still working on the inlay design and I agree with the denomination feedback, I like the centered version a lot. That being said, since I am already going all in on it, I think I am going to expand it into a set with bounty/reload chips, Any Ideas? Should I keep the bird vibe or expand it to something else for the specialty chips?
