I did the whole kodi install thing myself on Firestick and it was easy.
Since I did it a month ago I watched maybe one movie. Everything I watch has to be HD. The free kodi movies often are poor quality, buffer out, or have Japanese subtitles.
I have found kodi to be kind of a waste of time. I will not cut the cord yet.
And I failed. Keep getting errors in kodi that it can't download indigo (fusion). Too annoying to be worth it.Thanks. Have a gap between meetings right now. Hope to be running within the hour.
My wife wanted to watch Beauty and the Beast as the first movie and it took about 6 hours to get through it with the freezing and slowness. Almost deleted Kodi and went back to the stock Fire Stick. However, after watching a few YouTube videos and changing a few settings, it is working well. Some movies don't have streams, others are straight bootleg with someone filming in the theater, still others have Asian/Russian subtitles. It certainly requires some getting used to, and even then there will be many disappointing moments. But with a little patience and understanding that you could be watching movies that aren't even in the theater yet, there is certainly a tremendous amount of benefit to using it.I have found kodi to be kind of a waste of time. My wife and I aren't huge TV people, but if we need to catch up on a show or see a new (or old) movie, there's usually a decent quality stream out there.
you apparently have more time than money. There is no way doing this myself is worth the savings of $40-50 is worth it to me. I hate doing this crap.
Interesting that we have an entire thread dedicated to pirating commercial television and movies but I can't make fun of someone who wants to sell a rack of live casino $1s for $2600 without the world losing it's motherfucking minds.

To each their own.
It was very easy to do though. I put a YouTube video on my iPad and followed along with the video. It was all done in less than an hour. Paying someone $50 for something that was that simple is a waste to me. I'd rather spend that $50 on something I can't do easily in less than an hour like an oil change for my car. I don't have the tools to easily do it and the small cost saving vs paying for it makes it an easy decision.
I think people just assume something will be more difficult than it really is before even looking into it.
If after watching the video I thought "holy shit there is no way I can do that." Then I would have no problem paying someone to do it.
Pretty much what @Apache said. If you watch a lot of TV and movies, and care about the quality of what you watch and hate buffering and or waiting for content to load, Kodi isn't for you. It kind of sux actually.
In my case I make a lot of money, and don't like doing IT work. For example, I started doing the install on my current KODI installation. I had some free time between meetings. First step: install indigo (fusion). This step failed. Was not easy. There was no easy video to solve problem. There were 40000 websites telling me the thing I was doing should work. It did not work. I don't know why it did not work. This is why I hate IT work, and so I outsource it.
I sent a message to my IT guy. He'll be over this week to set it up. I can still afford an oil change.
Most of the stuff we watch is in SD or HD. It usually works just fine.
Who the hell is Jake? Does he know of any good websites??
IMO, only install kodi from kodi directly. Because its open source, lots of people add their own shit to it. I don't download from anywhere other than kodi directly.
All the instructions on installing exodus require first the installation of indigo(fusion). All the instructions to do that fail for me before the DL even begins.
This is why I outsource.
a friend programmed my first fire stick. He does it as a side job. If you want to reach out to him PM me your email address and I'll contact and copy you. Not sure if he still does it or not

Wouldn't it be nice if you could just go to a website . . .
