Thanks to PCF I got my Detroit cash set built.. small set but will do exactly what I need for a .25/.50 small stakes night with the fellas(and a few ladies)..
So, now the question:
What would you do if you were to only build/buy one tourney set?
T-5k?
T-10K?
Build it to handle a 20 player tourney?
25+ chip denomination?

Describe the “ideal” set if you would to put me on the path.
Thanks in advance.

Great post. Gives me food for thought.
I think I am decided on 20 man tops. T10k
25-100-500-1000-5000-25k are the denoms
I like all starting stacks to be symmetrical.
Theoretically I only need the 5k-25k chips for rebuys and color ups and may even go for plaques at the 25k.
What would be your way of building it? If I go CPC would they break up denoms as partial stacks/barrels or am I stuck with full racks?
Thanks again for all advice.

I’ve had a few beers and I think I misunderstood. So you have zero tourney chips so far and are looking for a breakdown?

If you like symetrical stacks, 12/12/5/6/bounty works well for 25/100/500/1000/bounty

Edit: 3 stacks of 12, start at 50/100 blind level for 100BB and 10k stacks

Edit 2: 4 beers plus one shot  :whistling:

Isn’t that 7500 if you go 12/12/12?

I'm sure someone will come up with a superior breakdown, but food for thought
25 x 160
100 x 160
500 x 140
1000 x 140
5000 x 40
25k x 10

Total = 650

Starting stacks of 8 / 8 / 6 / 6, rebuys of 5k x 2. You have 20x500 and 20x1000 for some of the colour-ups, and if half of the field rebuys, you still have 20x5000 for additional colour-ups.

For the upper demons, 5 T500s, 6 T1000s, and one bounty chip for a stack of 12 is what I meant. Did you mean symetrical stacks such as (x) of each chip? Like 8/8/8 or 12/12/12?
Your explanation is perfect. Symmetrical only in that everyone starts with the exact same stack. Both responses make lots of sense. Regarding customs...
Will they let a guy order 650 of exactly what he wants?

There are usually minimums of each denom, but it depends. Doesn’t hurt to email them directly and ask based on your preferred breakdown.

Slight preference for 8/8/4/7 stacks for 20 players, as not that many T500 chips are needed (but T1000s are workhorses). That puts the 20-player set at:

160 x T25
160 x T100
80 x T500
140 x T1000
60 x T5000 (used for color-ups, re-buys, and stacks larger than 10K)
--------------------
600 chips

T25K chips not really needed, but 10x or 20x could be exchanged for some of the T5000s.

Set also allows for 10-player stacks of 12/12/5/6/x.

This looks like a solid set up.
25k Plaques/chips could always get added at a later time.
The concern is whether you are realistically going to be able to get 160Xdenomination or 80Xdenomination rather than being forced in to full racks.
Thank you again to all involved here. Very informative and super helpful.

I don't think CPC requires you to buy by the rack. They do say, "We require a minimum order of 300 chips. Within a 300 chip set you can have up to 3 unique chips. In a 400 chip set up to 4, and in a 500 up to 5 etc. Orders for 39mm and 44mm chips cannot be combined." So with the above 600 chip order you could order 6 different denominations if you wanted to. If you can afford it, add on 20 - 40 25k chips now or maybe some bounty chips. If you wanted to add them later you would need to get at least 300 chips or go the Plaque route.

Mistake: Set also allows for 10-player stacks of 12/12/5/7/X, he meant to say 12/12/5/6/X. Colour up weaponry still sufficient.
