…and are they still being made?

I know it’s a 99% theyre all cheap plastic, but they seem to have been big in the 99s/2000s. I’ve long considered a tribute set to a particular NYC club, and now that I see multiples of the same chip type, I’m compelled to ask. House of Hanover chip seems to have a textured inlay/label, which sent me down this rabbit hole tonight

(I repeat: I know they’re garbage by PCF standards but I am a sucker for niche history)

Top two look like plain textured. The bottom looks like plain smooth, but I’ve never seen one in person so not sure.

I just impulse bought the House of Hanover pictured, so we’ll see… the Mayfair chip I have—which is same style—is 100% DuPont plastic, and the bottom seems closer to the Mayfair then the other two

My pocket weeps that these might be CPCs, but perhaps a treat for a June milestone coming up…

@David Spragg might know the history of these particular chips, whether ASM or CPC.

They look like plain mold ASM/CPC chips. Definitely reproducible if you'd like to make a tribute set.

Willing to bet a house I don’t own that CPC didn’t make this one, so when I saw the rest I posted it didn’t even enter my mind they may have been. I know David Spragg uses 0% DuPont!

No chance I ever own Mayfair chips in quantity—might as well consider making my own!

The OP has ASM textured and non-textured no-mold chips. I have textured no-molds in one of my custom sets. I believe the non-textured was taken out of service before CPC took over. I will defer to @David Spragg for confirmation.

@RudysNYC Mayfair chip is clearly not an ASM or CPC product. Those spots have never been available (nor do I think they are even possible). They are much too shallow.

If you are looking for a tribute, I could see that done on the no-mold.

This one was made by RT plastics I believe. They used to be available on the gamblers general website I think.

Judging by the @aol.com on their business registry page and lack of present availability, I’m gonna go ahead and assume they’re defunct. A couple of other NYC clubs from the time period used RT plastics chips (Diamond Club off top of my head)

JSM and AD are correct and those "personal" chips are on the plain mold made by ASM. Not sure when or if there is an option to pick textured or non-textured.

Brief History
Nevada Gaming Chip traces its lineage back to 1937. That is before the development of the Las Vegas Strip! The origins of the company started with Langworthy Casinos Supplies. Eventually, Langworthy transitioned into RT Plastics (and Gambler’s General Store) who became one of the leading chip manufacturers in the United States. RT Plastics opened many casinos including perhaps about half the Indian casinos in the United States when other manufacturers refused to make their chips.

In 2014 we rebranded the company to Nevada Gaming Chip, updating much of the equipment along the way to reflect modern technology. We kept our beloved Franklin, one of our workhorse presses that produces exquisite multi-foil inlays, a favorite of our foreman who has witnessed the evolution of the company from the RT-branded days to the new modernization of the company as Nevada Gaming Chip. In 2017, we sold the retail end of our business, Gambler’s General Store, and moved the manufacturing facility to our own premises at 1916 E. Charleston Blvd, near downtown Las Vegas and just a few minutes down the street from our old headquarters.

The first 2 photos look like textured no mold ASMs to me. No mold textured are really nice, IMO. I have a few racks of spotted no mold ASM roulettes. @Grimace has a few racks of solid no mold ASM roulettes. You can see photos of both of our lots in this thread:

If you want to make a custom tribute set, you can probably get these made by CPC on their no mold.

Unfortunately, the plastics made by Langworthy and RT were not of the best quality (when compared to Bud Jones, B&G, Matsui, or Abbiati), historical significance or no.

I'd classify them as a mid-tier plastic chip -- definitely a step (or two) above mass-produced Chinese-manufactured chips, but a step below the high-quality output from casino-supplying firms like GPI (BJ, B&G), Matsui, and Abbiati with their close manufacturing tolerances and post-production finishing.

RT Plastics were priced in-between those low- and high-end chips, too. Other mid-tier plastics include ICON and MSK, both of which are higher-priced (with ICON definitely a lower-quality product).
