WHAT PLAYING CARDS SHOULD I BUY AND WHY!!?? (1 Viewer)

They were available up here until Target Canada folded.

Walmart Canada used to carry them, but dropped them when Target started selling them. They have not picked them up again, so there's currently no source for them in Canada that I'm aware of.

eBay? They're cheap and available on eBay here.

I am still interested in getting new setups of Fournier, Modiano, or Piatnik. My preference is blue/red setups not really a fan of the other colours.

I would like Jumbo Index. Let me know what you have fellas!
I have an extra new setup of piatnik poker size jumbo index, but I'm not sure how much the charges for shipping across the border would cost.

Any other setups to sell? I need to buy a few things to make the shipping worth my while. Fournier or Modiano? I would even take Bicycle Prestige Plastic setup.

Hmm. Yes and no. I'll PM you.

Anyone know how long shipping takes from Kardwell? I ordered 3 set ups of Monte Carlo’s 4 days ago and still no shipping notification?

I just got my setup of the Desjgn casino bridge jumbo cards. Really like them a lot. They just have that little bit of texture to the cards, kind of like that KEM feel. Some people like that, some people don't. Personally I love it. they shuffle and pitch well and look great, seems to check all the boxes. 10/10 would highly recommend.

A few months back I ordered 6 sets of the Monte Carlo's...
No shipping notification received but they arrived timely via USPS padded envelope.

HOWEVER, only 1 set (one of the red/blue sets) were issue-free. The other decks all had marks, printing blems, pin-prick holes, or other noticeable issues. I was surprised by the lack of quality control, and disappointed as they otherwise are very nice cards. Great snap, thickness, and the jumbo indexes are appropriately elongated condensed fonts.
The issues were bad enough that I had to return them... but Kardwell only offered store credit :(
Hopefully the decks you'll receive are issue free.

Yikes, thanks for the heads up. I've been thinking about ordering some Monte Carlo's but have hesitated because of the high shipping costs.

Have you tried the classic Culture cards? They see more KEM like than the casino IMO. Both great sets of cards though.

I have not. I went with the casino's because I want the jumbo index. Good to know though, I'll give them a shot next time and see if I like them.

I ordered a bunch of stuff from them two or three times. Shipping was fast but I only am one state away. They shipped some wrong items and told me to keep them and they re shipped the proper items.

Customer service is good but the shipping prices are absurd.

I use the Hoyle plastic poker-sized cards for a unique reason—I live on a road called Hoyle. So it is like having custom cards.

These are pretty durable, and relatively cheap, so I can swap out decks/replace cards whenever they are looking worn without worrying about cost.

I also have a few sets of Copags. These are nicer... But they don’t say Hoyle on them. ;^)

My preference is for Bridge-sized decks with a jumbo index. (The Hoyle bridge-sized cards don’t say Hoyle on the backs; the poker sized ones do.) None of us are getting any younger, and even if your eyesight is good, still it is always nice to see the flop more easily across the table.

n.b. While the purist in me likes a traditional design, it’s kind of surprising that four-color decks haven’t caught on more. It makes so much sense from a usability standpoint. You’re pretty much never going to mistake a suit if they are all different colors.

Set ups arrived a few days after I posted. Never received a shipping notification. Cards look great, no noticeable defects so far. Like the feel and flex, I’ll give them a closer look to see if I can find anything wrong.

I don't have them in front of me, but if i remember right, the Desjgn standard index is somewhere in between a normal jumbo and a normal standard. I really like the "midsize" index.

That's good to know! Total personal preference, but I find that the standard index lead to questions from the other end of the table almost every time.

Are there Desjgns with normal index, but also normal pips on the cards? I don't like the non-standard Classic Culture number design.

I’ve enjoyed COPAG for years. Also have a set of faded spades that are nice. Need to try the Desjngs next.

Would you sell me a blue/red set up pls :)

If you don’t need jumbo index, Cartamundi CCP cards feel 99% like Gemaco Superflex. Honestly I don’t think anyone could distinguish between the two in a blind test.

$8.50 with free shipping in Amazon. They are usually $15-17. This is one of the best deals in playing cards that can be found. I ordered these and received them in perfect condition. They are legit.

These are great cards. They are on the slicker side as they are smooth rather than textured, but they glide across the table and handle great. Another heads up, the red is printed in security ink.

Man, I put some jumbo index in play this past weekend and didn’t get a good reaction

Agreed. But not as slick at Cartamundi acetates in the green box. If you liked Superflex cards these are basically identical

Crazy good price on those Cartamundi's...hard to resist. I already have so many decks that don't see play though. Playing HU last night I had several decks in play to speed things up. Just reminded about how buttery and perfect KEM's feel. We were arguing about who gets to shuffle the KEM deck...

Its all personal preference, but my personal preference is for the feel of the KEM decks. I love the slight texture of those cards and their ease of shuffle and pitch.

The Kems made in the last 6-7 years have way more texture than in the past. I think they are actually better.

Being that I have so any different decks I usually get 3-4 in play on a poker night. Other cards feel nice until the kems come out. Except for Faded Spade....they feel horrible no matter what

A great deal on Kem jumbo bridge in Paisley on Amazon right now.

The Cartamundi CCP are becoming my favorite cards. They're really durable, still completely flat after multiple sessions and handle almost identically as new. I don't think there's a better option out there at $8.50/setup.
