What kind of lighting is best? (2 Viewers)

Personally, I appreciated the longer-winded response. Light is taken for granted. Cool vs bright is often overlooked or just peripherally known, because how often does one buy lightbulbs in the post-incandescent lighting era?

This is something that should be taught in every visual-art class. Even my photography classes in high-school and college failed me here. The long-winded post was a boost in my education that was missing for so many years. Everyone lighting a room and taking photos of chips should know this before posting. The difference is massive.

Bright indoor lighting:

Near 100 CRI lighting (sun with diffusion that would probably filter some of 1 or more spectrums)

I appreciate the nod, PokerZombie! Lighting is so abstract and intangible, most people (quite understandably) have no idea (nor interest) in what is involved in it all.

Makes me wonder if I should get back into designing custom lighting fixtures, except geared specifically toward poker rooms and tables...

...and chip photography (though the niche may be a little small)

Update: it's still a work in progress, but I put up new paint and a new overhead light. It's a much cozier atmosphere already.

Demax51 - that room looks really nice! Cozier is definitely the word. It feels like the kind of place you could play for hours, without getting fatigued eyeballs. Nice paint job...
