What is the biggest leak in your game? (1 Viewer)

For me, it's getting cocky on my reads. Thinking that I have a read on a guy and then acting as if I know it's correct.

Mine is boredom. I’ll get tired of waiting for hands to play and will play any two cards sometimes just for the action.
Definitely similar to my pressure-points.
I particularly struggle to 'stay discipline' when the blinds begin to reach uncomfortable levels, especially if my stack is holding strong.
I start asking myself, "I'd be foolish not to play this hand, right?" - Depends on who you ask..
I've been folding damn good hands lately, trying to let the lower stacks bleed a bit more during the expensive blinds.
It's really just discipline for me I guess, in various aspects of the game.

Not really a leak, but for me, my biggest problem not having the ability to remember peoples actions, and who did what. I have tried all different things to try and be able to concentrate better, but it doesn't work. It hurts hand to hand, and especially over time, not being able to pick up on tendancies.

I realized that I play large cash games too loose. I'm used to playing at a 5 to 7 handed game and didn't recalibrate my ranges to accommodate a larger game. Before I knew it, I would call borderline hands preflop and completely miss post flop. Before I know it my stack is halfway gone without having played a single hand until showdown. I've come to realize that because of this I'm a much better tournament player than I've given myself credit for, but also a worse cash player than I thought I was.

My post flop bet sizing can use some work. I'm getting better at it but I'm still not where I want to be yet. I still play my made hands too honestly and bet too much so I don't get much action post flop. I've gotten better with picking my spots to bluff, but I still don't do it very much.

I'm the same way with cash games.
Cash chips mean immediate transactions of money, every hand.
Tournament chips are more comparable to an hourglass; you battle time/duration more than money.
It's all about longevity in tournament play, so the strategies of cash games become hard as hell to read.

That feeling when you've "figured out" the other guy, and convince yourself that there's no way he can beat your set and he shows you his straight...

I sympathize!

This is all very helpful. We should get a game together soon. ;)

I believe that my biggest leak is playing too loose in home games. Generally, I get 3 buy-ins deep before anyone else rebuys, or I build a huge stack and then donk it off through the night. Most of my players are so nitty that I just can't help getting super splashy. But even when I run it up, I can't help but donk it off through the night.

I play totally differently in card rooms. I am usually super TAG there, unless I need to change gears to exploit others.

Two, which have already been mentioned:

1) Forgetting that loose/maniac players get premium hands at the same rate as everyone else.
2) Feeling "pot committed" on river calls where I know the runout lost me the hand and it's bad odds even to call a 1/3 pot bet.

Does anyone remember the Viral Video with this girl sitting on the bus below quite a few years ago with the fight on the Bus and the phrase "He be Leakin". She was not even phased by the fight. This thread name made me think of it.

Anyway " Mine is boredom. I’ll get tired of waiting for hands to play and will play any two cards sometimes just for the action. " This is me sometimes. Sometimes I'll be very disciplined and wait for decent hands only and make tons of money. Other times I'll be getting nothing and then be very impatient and play any two cards and end up Donking money away.

Assuming I will win every time I play, especially against inferior players. Occasionally I'll play with college buddies who in the words of Hellmuth don't "know how to spell poker". They get mad when I preflop raise. Consider it a "bitch move". When I'm not getting cards and I know they're likely to leave once they're up, I start playing when I shouldn't. And these kids do not fold a damn thing.

My biggest casino leak is to win big at poker then stop at the blackjack table for just one shoe. It’s never been just one shoe. LOL

As a MTT player, a big leak in my game is just playing too tight for the first 2/3 of a tournament. My cash rate is very impressive, but I rarely make it to the bubble with the kind of stack I’d need do some real damage at the final table.

Why on Earth don't you play just cash? :)

I agree. I've been trying to improve my awareness at the table because there is so much information that my brain just doesn't pick up on. I read poker books and strategy articles, etc and see all the things that I should be noticing, but I can't seem to be able to make my brain do it. From not following actions closely enough, to not remembering player tendencies or how they played certain hands in the past, etc.

It's like I need a course on how to learn poker. Or how to tune my brain to be in a better spot to learn poker better.
