Hello all I am new to the poker world but what does the meaning of "T5" "T25" T100" . Is it the total stack someone starts with? or total amount of chips in a tournment?

It would be the tournament value of a chip. So if you need a 10,000 starting stack for an example you can have two T5,000 to represent your 10,000 starting stack. Very bad example, but trying to make a point ha. Does that make sense?

It's the lowest denominated chip the tournament starts with. For example in a T5, level 1 of blinds starts with 5/10, in a T25 it's 25/50 etc.
Based on preferred structure, one determines the total chips and distribution needed.

The most common is a T25 tourney, so starting stacks can be something like this:
12x25
12x100
5x500 (or 3)
6x1000 (or 7)
2x5000
for a total of 20,000 starting stack
