Cash Game What are the stakes at your home game? (3 Viewers)

main game is a three-way game: NLHE ($1/2); omaha-8 ($5/10/15 limit); and stud-8 ($5/10/15 limit).

one night a week it's straight PLO which is either single blind $5 or $1/2 depending on the crowd. neither of the PLO stakes play huge, though: big stack is usually $1kish at the end of the night barring some unusual antics.

We're just easing our way into cash games, so right now it's 5c/10c, 10c/25c, or 25c/25c NLHE, depending on who is playing. Some of us try to get a game going once we have a few people knocked out of the tourney's that we normally play. Trying to get people to try things other than hold-em is like pulling teeth, but we've had a few orbits of PLO and pineapple.

All of my cash games and all of my friends cash games are always .25/.50 with typical buy-in's of around $20. Typically the cash games start as people are knocked out of the main tournament of the evening. The game is always NLHE although I finally got enough of them (2 full tables) to give Omaha a try a couple weeks ago with fairly positive results.

Cash is .25/50 most of the time with a $60.00 buy in. We play HOPE, round by round.

Tourney's are 40 to 60 bucks with a mix of freeze outs and rebuys.

.25/.50 NL Hold'Em cash game. $100 max buy in or up to large stack on the table. Game plays pretty deep.

.50/1 PLO and NLHE. Minimum buy-in $75, max is $250. Button straddles almost every hand to $2 and creates lots of action.

My home game is .25/.50 NLHE cash, $40-$100 buy-in rebuy's are up to the largest stack on the table. If I am playing with my.....Isthmus chips its a .50/.50 NLHE cash same buy-in.
Half the players buy-in for 60 then another 40, the other half $100 re-buy 100.

.25/.50, .50/1, and 1/2 NL or PL, with buy-ins from 100BB min. to 200BB max.

When we play limit, it's always 3/6, because I love most $3 chips. 8;)

When we hold freezeouts, they're either $50 or $100.

Only 10 € tourneys sometimes with one rebuy. When we have played cash games, the only comfortable for everyone level has been .05/.10 €

Usually $0.05/$0.10 NLH cash game, $10 max with unlimited rebuys and unlimited add-ons, primarily because there are a few 'starving students' in my regular game. It's more about a cheap fun night than making bank.

I do occasionally run a $0.25/$0.50 NHL game when I can get a group who wants to have a more 'serious' game. That's $60 max with the same unlimited rebuys and add-ons.

I had run NHL tournaments in the past, but I hit a big bump where I was unable to get a reliable group together for that. Haven't had the tourney set in play for a couple years (which makes me sad). It hurts even more as I just got all the parts for a second tournament set. Those just need a cleaning, oiling and one chip a re-labeling and they are done.

NLHE tournaments $20-$50 buy in, cash game NLHE .10/.25, initial buy in is $25-$50, re-buys are $25-$75, we usually wind up with $600+ on the table.

This sounds exactly like our home game, however; ours is now at .25/.25 and it seems to be staying there. The entire table is usually willing to play any other big bet game, cept for one dude who is generally hard to get along with.

If one of us are semi broke, we'll play a T50k tourney starting at 100/200.

Ewww...$3 for a $3/6 game. $9/$18 or $12/$24 plz.

Not with my players. It's hard enough to get them to play limit as it is...

Whether we play .25/.50 or 1/2, I usually end up with about $4K bank in my pocket. Yet 5/10 limit is seen as much too high....go figure.

Recently my home games have been .25/.50 cents now. We used to only play .05/.10 but we all decided we wanted to raise the stakes being you could play for 4 hours at .05/.10 and maybe win 50 bucks lol.

We play .10/.25 NLH right now. I am trying to get the group to go to .25/.50 but most seem reluctant right now. Would it help if i went to .25/.25 first? I would love to get a .50/1 or 1/2 Limit O8 game going but I know it would only be 3 or 4 handed probably.

I play in two different regular home games. Both are friendly games. The insane rake combined with terrible service and incredibly slow play at the only local casino is what created a need for our games and also allows for a large player pool. The first home game runs as $1/$2, and is primarily hold em, with some nights being half/half (half HE, half PLO). The second home game formed when people wanted to play higher stakes and a wide variety of games. This game plays as a $5/$10 game, self dealt with 2 decks and is attended by individuals that are much more poker savvy than the small game. The game runs quicker and smoother than a lot of casino games I've played in. The games include NLHE, Pineapple, Crazy Pineapple, PLO, Omaha Hi/Lo. Most of the guys are good, serious players, it helps the game run smooth. If someone announces a 'pot' sized bet in PLO, almost half the table will instantly provide the same correct answer. This game has about 4 regulars that rarely miss a game, it is by invite only and there is usually a wait list every time it runs. Security is a concern that is not taken lightly and the invite list is built accordingly. Oddly enough, the game has it's regular donators who just like playing in the game and having fun. The regulars all provide a good time, we know that people don't enjoy losing money, but if they are consistent losers but having a good time, they seem happy to return week after week. There is no rake in either game. The first $1/$2 game usually has winners in $1000-$1500 range, while the other game usually sees the big winner walk out $3000-$5000 richer than when they arrived. However, a couple weeks ago a friend ran hotter than ever and booked a 5 figure win in the game, but that is highly unusual. The game saw a lot of guys play and bust out leaving the table extra deep when the next player showed up. I'm always surprised at how well everyone gets along in that game, considering the money being wagered. If you asked anyone in the room, they would consider everyone there to be a friend. I think that is a testament to how well the game is run and managed by the host.

My regular game with friends is a $10.00 buy-in $0.05/$0.10 NLHE game. Please forgive me, but they also want to play all the kiddie poker games like Chicago, Follow the Queen, etc. That is played with a limit structure, as none of them want to risk more than coffee money on a regular basis. Would love to find a .10/.25 game to play, but usually it is .25/.50, or a .50/1.00 NLHE game.

Tommy, can you move this over to the "You know you're getting old thread"? Forgot I responded on Page ONE. Derp . . .

.25/.50 Spread limit max $5 bet $50 minimum buy in
.25/.50 or 1/2 NL $50 minimum buy in
$50 tourney with rebuys/add ons

My game is 0.25/0.50, and my players rarely bet more than the minimum. So my question to all of you out there who seem to have low stakes games like me....what chips do you use? My game is best with a couple racks of quarters, couple racks of $1, and a couple barrels of $5. I find it hard to build sets since quarters are so hard to come by. Sometimes, I just end up using tourney chips, $25 as quarters, etc.

so what do you low stakes guys use?

....so what do you low stakes guys use?

There are at least two other options to expensive quarter chips:

1. Use a non-denom chip as your frac. I especially like something like the Hard Rock's various bold colors with the colored inlays:

2. Scale your chips upward, by multiplying by four when chips are bought, then dividing by four when you cash people out. Thus you use $1 chips as your smallest denom, each $1 chip actually representing a quarter cash value, and you don't need frac chips at all. This has the added advantage of preparing your players for a real 1/2 game at a casino.

My highly publicized (and arduous) search for quarters led me to using Live Binions $1 chips, which required them to be harvested and then relabeled. But the results.... I'm happy!

So $5 chip is played as $1.25 and $25 chip is played as $6.25. Sounds like a fun game. You really expect people to buy in for like $40 and then have $160 in chips and have to remember that the $80 bet they are facing is really $20?

Chips should always be face value and just use non-denominated chip for fracs like you stated in option 1.

.25/.25 NLHE $10-30 buy in. Used to do .05/.10 years ago, then .10/.20, all with dice chips. Went up to .25/.25 when I finally received better chips.

Ultimate goal is throwing a .25/.50, $20-$60 cash game with my friends, but it's hard enough to get them to play .25/.25 as is. Some of them have definitely improved their skills after joining my league I threw last year, so those guys are comfortable with these stakes for now.

Used to play in a previous tourney group that I now play with periodically, but they always do .10/.20 but with a .05/.10/.25/.50/$1 breakdown, and even added a $5 chip when it came to tourneys, all together within play. Plus they do different rules such as when min. raising no matter the street is the BB amount. Worst was 3-pair, which is between trips and flush. Besides that, these guys mostly threw tournaments and rarely cash, and while I first learned how to play through them I wanted to play cash HE like I should be, so a friend and I have our own group now.

Thankfully found another PCFer who does large .25/.25 cash games so that's a plus.
