What are the best plastic cards money can buy? (1 Viewer)

Personal perception is everything.......

SwissChip says about Trefl "I would rate Trefl more on the softer side of plastic cards.
KHarp1 on the same cards "They are just slightly on the stiffer side, though not nearly as stiff as Broken Arrow or Faded Spade"

I belive we need same instruments Dix have procured to make objective measurments....

For me its an obvious, my percepion of cards is biased....love bridge and Kem but

If you look at Fourniers IMHO bridge cards have perfect combination of flex and snap, the same stock in poker size is too flimsy like Copags...
and Piatniks, for me worst plastic cards, make them rare and hardly avaliable and they become talk of the town
Angels? never had any but apart from stock they look perfect in jumbo bridge when watching Aussie Millions

Right now can't wait for new Desjgn in bridge, blackjack index and made by Fournier
Curious as to why Piatnik ranks so low before you?

I’ve owned a couple of setups of Piatnik. I know I just found them a bit stiff for my tastes. And maybe a bit slippery too? Still good, playable cards, but nothing I’d pay a premium for.

I had a set almost 20 years ago....
Slippery as f....and face card graphics inferior to their paper counterparts, only indexes found my aproval....

The only test I'm using, currently, is placing cardson a hard, flat surface and abutting the ends of each deck to the other. Pressing down on both decks I see how many cards will move freely over top of the other deck. I'm currently in conversation with a Toolmaker to fashion a vice/jig that will hold one deck and allow a clamp to be pressed on top of the deck. There will be a cutout to measure with a caliper, giving an accurate thickness of each deck. That's for starters. Trying to envision another jig that hold one card while a finger attached to a pressure guage measures how much pressure to bend said card to 90°

My current tests have used two cards as a basis, both Cartimundi Belgium (because they're my favorite) and Copag, because so many people use them (not me, unless i have to). In that testing, I've found the CB to be one card thicker than Copag, and Trefl to be 2-3 cards thicker than CB. It's rudimentary, but evolving.

I firmly believe other things come into play when describing "flexibility." Type of stock, how it's made, etc.

I'm looking to host a game soon and while I can't afford a set of Paulsons yet I figure I can get some nice cards.

Lately I've been playing with some broken arrows and they are fine but man they get dirty quick.

Modiano Platinum Acetate is better than KEMs if only for the fact that it is definitely more durable.

Most people will not recommend these because of previous controversy into their business practices but speaking strictly about the cards, this is the way to go.

very cool post. do most companies export to the UK or Thailand? Any brands in those countries that are worth trying that are not available in the US? Cheers

Flat KEMs are the KEMs you buy and are lucky enough when they stay that way. Unfortunately, there’s many examples of them being warped right out of the shrink wrap, or warping after some play. It’s hard to determine the percentage of problem decks, but the question is…are you willing to pay a premium price for something that may be an issue?
The good KEMs are the best, the bad ones are trash.
Yeah I got a brand new pack of black/gold KEMs and they warped almost instantly

If you're in the Asian market Angel is a great top level brand to search out. I don't know if I've ever seen Poker/Jumbo from them, but, their card stock is great.

They do make jumbo indexes however my suspition is they do them for casinos exclusively....They do make them for Crown Casinos for sure....

I have kem and copag, copag takes the cake in terms of value and indistructability. Kem is just unbelievably nice but not worth it in terms of value imo

I don't visit this website quite like I used to. But every time I do, there is another thread about cards where not one person mentions Gemaco Superflex. They're not common cards, but easily obtainable at Kardwell. And they are just super duper.

There was a great sale from Kardwell with these cards, and I was a day late (ordered, but they don't do well with inventory updates, so when I checked later they said they were actually out of stock). I wish I would have gotten ahold of some. I LOVE the other Gemaco cards I have.

A couple months back i found Platinums on the big river site in Germany for €6.50/deck.
This is hard to beat!
And since you can flatten these if warped, it‘s the best offer i‘ve ever seen.
Apart from the €5 for Dal Negros on an italian website…
Shipping costs often kill it - cards are (like chips) quite heavy.

im looking for something in Asia or even the UK where i can just order off the internet direct from the store, job done. A few of the suggestions above all have great reviews after researching, but, not easily accessible/sold out etc. If any one has any brands that are in stock and highly rated,i'd be grateful if you could post them. Thank you in advance

My list / Groups list of favorites to this point:

Aristo's <- These are perfect.

Just to be clear though, despite their name, they’re not a particularly flexxy card, right? I’ve owned Gemacos which were quite stiff (or had a lot of snap, depending on your perspective,) but I’ve never owned superflex, so all I can go by is what I’ve read.

I would highly advise trying them. I just gave away a setup or else I'd offer to send you one. I dont particularly like Gemacos other than the superflex, and I would say they're flexible with little snap. Shuffle great. They're not super soft like KEMs, insert eye-roll here, but very easy to pitch/peek/shuffle.

Hey @davidp12

Check this thread:

https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/european-uk-card-buy-recommendations.128196/

One UK site I bought from that has Dal Negro etc:

https://www.mastersofgames.com/cat/indoor/playing-cards-poker.htm

GL!

Got my Desjgns from Masters of Games, I don't think they had the Dal Negro ones on there when I did so I could be tempted with those while I wait for the new Desjgns to be available.

I also like the look of the AHPC and Broken Arrow setups ... sigh :)
