Not Mine Vintage/Old Casino (?) Chips - "T.R. King" (1 Viewer)

Would love to have opportunity to buy a rack if buyer wants to split them up and they are in good condition as the peek suggests they may be.

Who makes those B mold chips? Are they clay?
https://www.antiquegamblingchips.com/molddesign_letters.htm

"B" MOLD -- "B" and dash, repeated eight times. 1960's-present Bazaar Supply & Equipment Co., N. Y. The owner told me the mold was never used very much, especially today, and never used by a casino, rather a light chip for home games and clubs. (However, Bill Borland's Blue Book of Casino Chips describes it as a "registered casino design," no longer in use.) .........I have these worn samples for sale -- (1) blue 10, pictured; and (2) red, no denomination.
https://www.antiquegamblingchips.com/molddesign_letters.htm says Bazaar Supply & Equipment Co., N. Y. - yes, they are MD-14.
Burt Co. previously manufactured the clay B-mold chips (now made by CPC).

I still haven’t handled large crowns. I always thought they were beautiful, but I lost a lot of interest when I learned they weren’t made with the same heavy, leaded clay as the small crown TRKs.
I just weighed a bunch of old, worn red solids - 8g each.

I've never handled new, sharp LCrowns, but the old ones feel very buttery. While I prefer the feel of soft, new Paulsons over high pressure chips in general, when they get old and rounded down, the higher pressure chips like Burt and TRK feel great. The first TRK LCrowns that I ever bought on eBay were described as "wood poker chips".
Lcrowns were also made by Burt Co. (using high temp/high pressure compression).

TRK, Paulson, and BCC compression processes use(d) much lower temperatures and pressures along with leaded materials (except possibly for BCC).

I'd read here that TRK didn't make any of the large crowns, they just sold them. Are you saying that's inaccurate?

Not sure if CPC has the B-mold as I have never seen them produced by CPC (or ASM).
They defintely use the B-Diamond mold.

B-DIAMOND (a/k/a DIAMOND-B) -- "B" and 4 diamonds, repeated four times. This mold seems to have been used mostly in the northwestrn United States. It is now sold by Seattle Restaurant Store Co. (a cookware store!), Seattle WA, which opened in 1933 as Tavern Supply Co./Bar Mart........Luke Rapley sent me a variation of this chip, which came in a box saying Tavern Supply Co., Seattle, Wash. To see it, click here. ...........I have the chip pictured on the left for sale. They are in nice shape except for the worn hot-stamp image. One side has "$1.00." and the reverse says "5050." .... As of October 2015, the mold is still being produced in Maine at Classic Poker Chips company, a company that took over from Atlantic Standard Molding in 2013-2014. All their molds can be seen here. The mold is licensed for use in Nevada as of 2014 onwards.

I'm a fried high school teacher. My literacy skills are out the window. On the bright side, I've developed quite the bourbon habit.

you are forgiven. that said, why do these kinds of listings seemingly never include pictures of the actual chips, just the case/box??

Nope, not at all -- Burt Co. made the lcrowns, which is exactly what I said above (and elsewhere). Plus they also made the B-diamonds, but I'm not sure on the B-dash molds (possibly Langworthy if really light; @Jeff in Iowa probably knows or has a pretty good idea). Damn unlikely they were actually made by Bazaar Supply, however.

CPC has a LOT of old/unused Burt Co. molds in their vault; just because they don't produce chips today with a given mold doesn't mean that Burt Co. didn't make chips with it 60 years and four owners ago. Just look at their expanded mold offerings today (in just ~7 years) vs the limited ASM mold options that were available from 1988-2012.

The more I learn the more I understand, ........................................that I have so much more to learn.

A lot of folks would rank large crowns as third best clay crown chips.

small >> e&c >> large

Interesting...when I think of crown chips the e&c never even came to mind until you mentioned it. I think the mold has its place and some chippers have used it to great effect, but for my money and purposes the clown crown comes third.

So, I sat out the speculation on these, since I was en route to snagging them. It was a lot of work, took a lot of time out of my day, but definitely worth it. A fully playable set of old-school hotstamps on the lcrown mold, one of TRK's best.

Here's a teaser, but full pr0n is HERE.

This looks absolutely insane. Great pickup!

Edit: I'm officially confused and I think amazed. :ROFLMAO:

I don't understand. Did you drive to western mass to pick these up, then drive them to alaska, where Pat hot-stamped them in a time vortex?

i'm so confused, is this seriously a troll craigslist post? the writing on the "Dark Blue" box certainly implies so. was this some bizarre ploy to collect PCF users' email addresses?? :ROFLMAO: ok.

In my defense, that TRK box came that way. :bag:

I've emailed all the folks that contacted the "seller" on craigslist...each PCFer that sent an email to the "seller" can have a sample set, on the house. Can't guarantee it'll be first quality, given how few good hotstamp spares I'll have, but I figure I owe you at least that.

And I must admit, I was quite surprised at how polite everyone was! :ROFLMAO:

Awesome easter egg. I would have emailed except local pickup leaving Australia would have taken like 12months. sigh

No worries! I'm in Columbia County, NY. Seemed plausibly close without being too obvious.
