If there were a solid provenance about the history of those chips, maybe the price isn't crazy. If it could be proven these are from an interesting pre-WWII speakeasy / card room the set might be worth that price.
The seller is a long-ways from proving any of that. But this auction is far more interesting than almost any other chips from the 1930s, Thanks @ekricket for bringing it to our attention.
I don't recall ever seeing that mold before. Someone here must know something more about it. Please share -=- DrStrange
