I might be checking out an old roulette wheel up for sale. It looks to be about 30-34" in diameter and in decent shape.

How much do these typically go for? I've seen Paulson roulette wheels from old casinos on eBay for over $5k USD.

How do you test a roulette wheel for balance issues, bias, etc. without running a sample size of like hundreds of spins?

I didn't wind up getting it. I think I missed out on a good deal, it went for around $1500 Canadian. Came with a well-worn table with a layout from or based on the Taj.

A roulette wheel isn't for every home. I expect it was a good deal at $1,500, though who knows how much higher the winning bidder was going to bid. However, once won, then the wheel needs transportation and a new home.

Oh, and why would you care if the wheel wasn't as random as a new wheel?

Just curious -=- DrStrange

PS for what it is worth, I once idly ask the Ms about putting gambling antiques like say a crap table and roulette wheel in the living room since we don't use it that much. She wasn't a fan of the idea.

Funny thing, I probably could have picked it up along with 700 or so good condition James Bond chips for under a thousand more. I think it was part of an estate sale (including a house) and the seller was trying to get stuff moved out of there ASAP.

Re your question: Close to the same reason I wouldn't want a deck of cards to have 2 aces of spades but no 3 of hearts. Ultimately I probably would have wound up reselling it on eBay, so the less issues with it the better.
